The New Year Parade - feature

Thanks Mark! Yeah, the URL changed about 2 years ago and I should have reposted (under Films!). We've been very busy since then: The film won the Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance, 7 other fest awards, were a Gotham Award nominee, and are now an Independent Spirit Award nominee! We were blindside by the whole thing, but very excited. We did a 2 week theatrical run in Philly last month and are in Chicago all week (NYC and LA in early '10). The DVD hit Amazon, Netflix etc in November and Roger Ebert was kind enough to review the film this week!!

It's all pretty crazy - we shot the film for $7,000 on the DVX using mostly nonactors, so I feel very very lucky!!

I've been watching the progress of your movie for a while.

All in all, it looks like you knocked it out of the park (shot on the dvx, no less!)

Nice work. It's talent like yours and movies like yours that give us dreamers something to aspire too. Best of luck.

Thanks man! I really appreciate it! We've been very very fortunate : ) We have our fingers crossed for the Independent Spirit Awards, which are voted on by Film Independent and IFP members. It should be a fun couple of months!

Put it in my Netflix as well...congratulations on all the success and the Indie Spirit Award, too!

Wow, thanks guys! Martay, I just added Behind the Nine as well. I hope you guys dig the film!!

you stuck to it since june 2006! And you're finally getting some recognition for your work. Congratulations! You're the real article. Good luck with it. Now it's time for you to soar.

Looks great. I just completed my first feature, which I shot for about 1/10th of your budget... I'm just starting to submit to festivals and I've been reading a ton about the whole process. It's both frightening and exciting. Congrads though.

Congrats on finishing your feature! That's amazing! And it's great to hear your budget is so low - it really helps take the stress off as you take it around, I think. Good luck as you hit the fests - frightening to be sure, but mostly exciting : )

Hey Jkc,

We did the letterbox in post and marked frame lines in scotch tape on the LCD and playback monitor. I like having the wiggle room in post! : )

Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom- the trailer looks great- I will try my best to get to the Spirit Award screening in NYC and check it out. Congratulations!
