The new Nikon D4

I mean not both, but the cameras. They top, you as shooter too... so?

To me, this is enough to rock as (fair, ideal, etc) combination :-) If you're looking for producer, let me know. I guess I'd appreciate to produce you ;-)

what is "Contax Zeiss " ? Zeiss Jena ?
Exactly.. you won't be using any other glass but Nikon mount pretty much. This is exactly why I am frustrated that Canon won't just drop the right Full Frame DSLR, with similar features to D4. The Crop function is AWESOME. Or, why the heck can't we get something like this from Panasonic? I mean I now why.. but dang..

I love all of the Nikon's features, except for the freakin' Nikon mount.

No PL options tears my heart out. =[ And, Can't use Contax Zeiss either????

"why I am frustrated that Canon won't just drop the right Full Frame DSLR, with similar features to D4."
because canon wants you to upgrade to the C300 :)

i hope all these features are relegated to the lower end cameras. Id gladly buy one at a lower price since most of my glasses are nikon!

with all these features on the d4, im seeing a good future for the succesor of the 5D mk II

The crazy thing that this camera illustrates is that there's no end to the evolution of video cameras. Pretty soon if a video camera or DSLR does not have "multiple crops" plenty of people will say it's "not professional".

I must say though that I love the idea of multiple crops because I'm a minimalist. Now you can buy ONE lens and it will operate like three. Insane. Of course their may be some kind of quality loss between crops? Someone said that noise would be blown up. I don't understand if that is correct or just random speculation.

I must say I like the way Nikon have released this camera. No fanfare. Just a great product.

Well theoretically if you have less pixels to make up the same 1920x1080 image, then yes you could see a decent quality drop. The GH2's noise in ETC mode is sorta the same thing. Even though there's line-skipping with the D4 when using full-frame, there's still a lot more information being recorded to make up that 1080p image. SO, if it's a full 1080p crop of the sensor, every pixel on the sensor is an independent recorded pixel.

Hhl some people are reporting that thise vids are fake

Thanks for the heads up to us all. I can say that this guy had a lot of the early D7000 stuff and it was legit. Maybe he's "bs'ing" this time....but thanks for the heads up.

@Kyle.....it is clean isn't it? It reminds me of the F3 or FS100. A little different looking though....

....
Don't forget though, the sensor crop is only going to effect your FOV so a 24mm lens doesn't become a 64mm lens in terms of the DOF and focal length, you're just cropping in on that full-frame FOV into a smaller portion. Still, even if it's a sudo-telephoto type function, it's still an awesome feature when/if you want to use it.

In the video posted by vision_filmz there appeared to be some “magnification” on the chair when the camera was switched from full frame to the 2.7 crop.

Look at the video at about 3:35 and then at 5:15.

I'd like to see a side by side of the full frame / 1.5 / 2.7.

not a fan of Nikon glass--at least not the old stuff

With manual Nikon AI-S lenses, pretty much all the primes are very good ( sharp, contrasty, low flare, etc... ), but I would be wary of older zooms. Some AI-S zooms are good, but you have to check the specific performance of each lens.

The other minor issue for me with most SLR Still Photo glass is the short focusing throw. I bought a Nikon 35mm f/2.0 AI-S to fill the gap between my 25mm Voightlander and 50mm Zeiss, and the optics are great, but focus throw is so short that I find manual focusing a bit touchy. I am tempted to replace this lens with either a Samyang 35mm f/1.4 ( if the focus throw is much longer than my Nikon brand lens ) or with a much more expensive Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 ZF lens. ( Voightlander and Zeiss have a very long focus throw which makes manual focusing such a joy with these lenses )

I believe that was a 2 camera shoot not a "magnification" on a D4
