So I have SD footage on miniDV tape recorded on a P2 native 16:9. It imports all crazy from my dvx100a and sony minidv deck. It's all squished down top to bottom. If I switch to anamorphic, it's worse... Do I need a 'native' 16:9 deck or something? Wah, art is hard...

PS- I did search on this stuff but it sounds kinda 2007 to me. I'm afraid the answer is obvious, so sorry if I'm right-
 
Your DVX100A will import it just fine. Somehow your NLE software isn't configured properly, but you don't have a hardware issue; DVX100As support native 16x9 footage.
