Are there any things that you should definitly change in the DVX to get a better image or something ? I know sometimes there are a few little settings you can change that make a big difference.

Theres also some big things you can change that make a small difference. Personally I change things little by little while thinking about the big picture because its the little things that really matter. But this is only sometimes. Othertimes I want the big differences and push all the little things to the side; but more often than not I just get confused and end up somewhere in the middle.

One.... of the BIG things ....on the DVX is whether you have chosen progressive (presets f5 and f6 on the dial) or interlaced capture (presets f1-f4) mode to capture your video.

That really makes a difference. Progressive is so much film like...DVX has been the pioneer in this respect, in this class of cameras.

you can get a cool matte box like this one.

no really, you see the little straps I ghetto rigged on my DVX. This won't improve image quality but will definitly keep your audio caps from dissapearing.

uh, don't forget to white balance.

The first thing I do with the DVX (both versions) to enhance the picture and be able to use it in news, national television, is to icrease the chroma a little bit. The default settting for F1 is pretty colorless.

general...

Drop master Ped about -5
Increase chroma a touch +2
Drop detail -4

And don't forget to buy that UV filter that will protect your lens on the DVX. Also throw in a tiffen circular polarizer.

Barry Green's Book on the DVX! That will tell you about all those scenefile settings so you can make your own educated decisions as to what needs to be done. Tim.

The first thing I did with the 24p when I got it was... take some pictures of it or as for me pose with it. Us camera guys do it with all our cameras. It's like meeting a movie star. You got to take a picture with them. Nothing dirty...please.. Or the other thing is when pulling it out from the box.. "Don't drop it." I almost did cause I was the first who got one when it first came out. :D
