The most annoying performance

Okay, you say you like Keanu Reeves in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"...I can tell you it was one of his best performances. However, I have a hard time giving him credit for it. He stole Sean Penn's performance from "Fast Times at Ridgemount High".

If you read the next few words in the sentence, I said I'd actually never seen Bill and Ted's. I was simply pointing out that ALL of Reeves' performances are spacey and vacant.

I think Farrell is putting on an act, though not a conscious one. Fighting for recognition, fame, and popularity can do things to a person's brain. For instand that woman who wore a ballerina outfit to the oscars or something. And look how everyone was wearing tiny dresses and pointing it out to use after JLO became so popular for doing it. Crazzzeeeeeee!

Imelda Staunton in Vera Drake. Everyone praised this movie and her performance but I wish she'd just stop crying so they could get on with the plot. If she did, it would have been a 6 minute short.

Jennifer Aniston and her one dimension of blah. Harrison Ford, although very watchable, seems to have hardened into a caricature of himself.
Most celebrities are so overexposed and obsessed with their own celebrity that I now avoid almost all celebrity movies. They bring too much baggage to a movie. If there has to be a celeb, I'd much rather watch a film with a lower level one who will play a different character from film to film. aka Joan Allen, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Peter Saarsgard, Don Cheadle.
Juliette Binoche. Their are a few supercelebs who I can forget their celebrity through the sheer force if their talent. aka Nicole Kidman.

Ahh, I've been waiting for a place to rant about this:

Shane Brolly in Underworld.

He almost ruined the movie for me with his over-the-top sucktactular performance.

ANYTHING AND I MEAN ANYTHING WITH DMX. His acting is so bad, vomit blasts out my nose.
Domonic Percell in Blade 3. Man, the room stunk after that one. I thought some one left an ass in the living room.
Any one acting in a Star Wars movie. Once they are done with the Lucus crap, they go back to being actors. I find it funny that Lucas can suck the performance out of some of the coolest actors in the biz.

DeNiro and Murray in "Mad Dog and Glory".

Annoying acting by counter-cast actors, and what a crappy flick.

Jack Lemmon in most anything he did the last 20 years...(he developed a very bumbly delivery). Al Pacino has developed a voice that sounds like he has substituted his favorite throat lozenge with a razor blade.

What about "Glengarry Glen Ross"? Both of these actors are excellent in this film. On top of that, the movie is also full of very quotable lines.

"This coffee is for closers!"

Al must be a heavy smoker for his voice to become like Harvey Fierstein.

 Brilliant analysis.

I've been laughing at how people either love or hate the same actor. I think Jim Carry is mostly good (liked Truman, and Dumb) and I think Sandler gets it 50% of the time (voices... agreed). To this day I've NEVER understood the attraction to J. Roberts.

For some reason the most annoying performance I can think of is the little girl from Aliens... mostly.

Putting kids in movies is risky... they usually suck.

Brian Cox in X2. I found him way over the top. I think it was a terrible piece of ham acting. He was just screaming for attention.

Which is amazing because he's such a good actor in films like Manhunter (Hannibal Lechter) and Braveheart (Angus) among others.

The MOST annoying actor in the entire world has got to be Paul Walker! He can't say more than three words and I can't take him seriously.

I actually disagree. I still thought Jack Lemmon's bumbling was annoying. Though, I did like AL Pacino in this flick a lot. His razor blade voice seemed to fit the bill on this one.

And on a side note, Kevin Spacey played a great pr*ck. What a great flick.

i'm an al pacino fan but a friend of mine and i agree that ever since pacino won for scent of a woman he's basically played the same kind of character... loud and angry etc. that's why him and i agree that deniro is better than pacino cause deniro is more diverse.

Personally, I think it has nothing to do with his talent and everything to do with his stature. The man obviously knows how to act. However, he has been very scent-of-a-womanish for quite some time. I wonder if his 'stature' prevents directors from making some polite suggestions. I know I'd be scared to.

Chris Tucker in "The Fifth Element"

Pacino in "Gigli"

Affleck in "Reindeer Games" (but he was da' bomb in "Phantoms":) )

Travolta in "Battlefield Earth"

And the very best bad performance in any movie ever:

Theresa Russell in "Physical Evidence" (which, if you've not seen it, is one of the all-time great bad movies)

i think the worst performance are always the ones where the actors get stupid roles in horror and cliche movies. where they always do stupid stuff instead of actually doing something that a normal person would probably do in real life. its just sad watching movies like that.

and yes... i do agree with whoever posted that J. Robberts isnt all that. i have never thought of her as being all that great or beautiful. but i guess im not the smartest when it comes to rating films... so...

oh.. and i also think any scene with will smith where he says his famouse line "AWW HELL NO!!" ... that is just... annoying... oh yeah... and martin lawrence... i dont really like him...

Brittany Murphy in "Sin City" - I almosty felt sorry for her - she was so bad and surrounded by all these decent-to-great performances.

I think there's something obvious that has bubbled up through this thread - it's the director's fault.
Natalie Portman can act, and act well. But if all you saw was "Episodes I-III" you'd think she was the worst actor in the world.
Liam Neeson managed to overcome the "Lucas factor" because of his age and experience, but the younger actors didn't stand a chance. MacGregor held his own, but at times was awful. Christensen and Portman were goners from the get-go.

There are a handful of actors who can overcome bad directing, but they usually end up looking out of place. (I'd put Gene Hackman, DeNiro, Morgan Freeman, Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins and a couple others in that group).
But they've all had bad moments (Hopkins in "Legends of the Fall" springs immediately to mind) with directors who either don't know how to direct them or are just scared.
