The Monster of Phantom Lake picked up for DVD distribution!

Saint Euphoria Pictures / All For George Productions proudly announces that three of its feature films, including "The Monster of Phantom Lake" has recently been picked up for worldwide DVD distribution!

"The Monster of Phantom Lake," its sequel "It Came From Another World!" and "Cave Women from Mars" were all written, directed and edited by Christopher R. Mihm and shot using a DVX100a and edited using Sony Vegas.

The discs should be ready for purchase in your local Wal-Mart, K*Mart or Best Buy early in the new year!

congrats on the deal!
it would be awesome for all us other movie makers if you could post up some percentages from your deal... for example, how much (percent wise) did your company front for crew and talent costs, travel or location expenses, craft services, promotions, screenings, production and duplication, etc, etc.
I guess what I'm (bluntly) asking is: At the end of the day, how much did you have to give away for your shot at the mass market? Do you make/keep 50%? 25%? 5%?

Unfortunately, most people see very little residual income from distribution. Distributors are very, very clever with their "cost" and indulge in a lot of "creative book-keeping". I am very close friends with legendary cult filmmaker Ted V. Mikels and he has over a dozen movies distributed and he said he hasn't seen a dime years.

If you would like to know more about this topic, I would suggest you get Steven Bosko's book "The Complete Independent Movie Marketing Handbook". It should be in everyones filmmaking library.

Congrats on the distribution deal!!

Thank you all! As for cost, we're still in the hole on pretty much all of our films. We don't realistically expect to make any money back but the distributor we're working with is newer and very eager to please us filmmakers. We even worked out production deals on a couple of newer projects. I'll ask the guy down at the distribution company if they're open to unsolicited submissions and let you all know either way.
