The Men Who Stare at Goats

Just saw it.

Meh.

It had it's funny moments, a few really great ones. But aside from that the plot was weak, I didn't care much for the characters, I wasn't sure when things were supposed to be real or not, and the story felt like it went nowhere.

Maybe a rental. Felt like a waste to go to it though.

This movie goes in the top 5 worst movies of all time!

Really? If this is in your bottom five, you need to see more movies.

Gigli?
Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever?
One Missed Call?
Battlefield Earth?
Ghost Dad?

"Goats" wasn't a great movie, but it was entertaining. It did feel a bit "lost," like Heslov had a great source to work with (the book the film is based on), but couldn't bring himself to make a film as darkly funny as the source itself.

Basically, I'd like to have seen the film made by a more confident director.

But I did laugh.

I think Clooney has an art-house core crystalized deep inside his mega-star exterior.

Is that a compliment or an insult? I don't know... but he's got a certain... something... that I see and hear coming through his acting... mainly in these "quasi-B" movies that he's racking up. By "quasi-B" I mean... hmm... "anti-blockbusters"... the string of flicks that anybody can predict will make back their budget... but not much beyond that.

Clooney is one of my favorite actors.

They showed Ghost dad a few days ago, I felt my stomache turn just like when I first saw it when I was a kid.....

Battlefierld Earth rocked JoHn Travolta did a great job as did the other guy forget his name the fat one ahhhhh.. anyways ........ The taking of Pelham 123 reminded me of his acting in B.E.

and he does them well......... I feel relaxed when I watch his movies , its never the end of the world .

And for that, Everts, you have earned a place on my DVXUser "ignore" list. :D

:)Somebody has to love that movie.....

I enjoyed the fact that men who were pushed back to the stone age somehow learned to fly f16s and kick some alien ass.
B.E. was a comedy right ?

Seriously the CGI in B.E.was great though .

Keep diggin' that hole, Everts. It just gets deeper with every post.

What's next? A dramatic exploration of character archetypes in "Gigli"? :D

I agree with this... and I like Clooney. My "analysis" was intended to be neutral... and hopefully you took it that way. He is pleasant... and I think so far he's that same "pleasant guy" in all his movies. It's like hanging out with a cool dude or something.

I think he's probably one of the rare actors that won't be hurt by any odd choices anyway.

"What's next? A dramatic exploration of character archetypes in "Gigli"?"

The philosophical implications of Nacho Libre.

In my neck of the woods, the worst movie of all time, bar none, is Gerry (2002). And know that if a troop of monkeys ever pelts Matt Damon or Gus Van Sant with feces, that I will be smiling just a little bit on the inside.

Gigli made me sick. He ticks me off. This Affleck.

Ghost dad was GREAT (but then again I was 12 or something I'm watching that again today).

Would like to see 'goats' waiting for it to come to theaters here.

Ghost dad wouldn't make it to worst five. The 12 year old was happy to watch it.

I may get flogged, but the saint is probably one of the lamest I've seen. I'd replact Ghost Dad with The Saint on that earlier list.
