Am I correct in assuming that Panasonic have not released any 'P2 viewer' software for the Mac? If so how do/would I go about editing/creating P2 Metadata?
i'm off to India next week and being able to tag things would be a real boon!
Cheers
P2 Log is better than what Panasonic gave away to the PC users. It's not free but it's a great piece of software.
I'm not sure if the price has jumped up since the introductory rate but P2 Log coupled with P2 Genie is a killer combo for the Mac.
P2 Viewer: Instantly view Panasonic P2 MXF video clips on your Mac.
Edit Clips: Change User Clip Names, Auto-Fill text, add descriptions, Delete unwanted Clips.
Save: Updates P2 Volume.
Find: Find, Replace, Sort.
Select: Mark or select just the clips you want to output.
Export: Create FCP XML files including converted QT Clips
SD Cards: Load and program HVX200 SD metadata.
P2 Compatible: P2 cards, P2 Store, FireStore.
PAL Compatible: Plays/converts 720P 25&50 Clips (requires Imagine's pass-through codec).
I can't recall who wrote it or discussed it, but someone out there managed to find a way to rig up something of the sorts using FileMaker I believe. It was all just done by hand by him, so it seems you could rig up something yourself. You could just try a search here in the forums.
As for the 'free' category, haven't seen anything of the sorts P2 wise myself. At least not on the Mac end of things (haven't look for the PC). Also, considering the cost of the camera, the cards, what your backup solution(s) will likely cost, the price of the software isn't really asking that much.
Well I guess I should have read the workflow section first, cause someone replied to the thread and so it was top of the list for me this morning, here read this...
Thanks all that is exactly what I was looking for.... just hope now that it gets released. I would be prepared to pay a reasonable price if thats an issue!
Cheers
