FEATURE: THE LOST CHILDREN - A FEATURE FILM by Mark Harris

Shoot all set for EST, July 15th:

FYI, they are SUPER nice. So I encourage anyone who needs that kind of location to contact them. Very fast and helpful from the get-go.

Also, even though we have insurance, they do waive the insurance requirement for a crew of 5 or less.

We are shooting in Philly on the 15th, and am seeking a little help.

Anyone there or close interested in helping on this shoot? Shoot will be pretty easy, but I could use one more grip.

Also, is there a website or something for getting Philly actors?

We will be shooting at Eastern State Penn: http://www.easternstate.org/

Dang, I will be shooting in Seaside heights starting the 15th for finish the Love Chaos feature. Otherwise I would be there but I think I can get you someone.

Shoot me an email of the details. I live an hour from Philly and would love to help out.

Update: ACT I is pretty tight in the timeline. It's about two weeks from the point where I will have to show it to some other people to make sure it all makes sense, comes across like I want it to, etc. I will likely be hitting up a few people from this board to take a look and give feedback.

Also, my art director(****ing magician) scored a very very important location for next to nothing. The other option we were looking at was going to cost about $2K/day to rent. So that is a friggin' weight off. And, a third difficult location came through last week as well. So with the prison, we are covered for all but one of our huge set-piece scenes. Very very relieved.

Though, I was thinking: this is a real movie now. One of those locations will require about 2 days of set-building/dressing and will appear on screen for about 30 seconds...

Couple new grabs from yesterday's shoot:

I use the "A" word too often. I have to stop. Regardless, I'm sure this film will be very engaging. I'm looking forward to it myself.

I think the story is genuinely unique and hope the film will be too.

Also, starting on a Android app for an ARG related to the story. Sort of a non-linear-location-based story offshoot of this. If anyone wants to hear more or get involved in that kind of thing, let me know. I just wrote a nice little framework to make developing these kinds of things easier.

Great idea. Too bad I'm on the iPhone. Are you building this app yourself?

Yeah, will also do iPhone, but it's much faster to prototype in Android. So I'll see what ideas take off, then port them over.

I've been working on a generic framework for populating mobile apps with content in WordPress, the idea being that you can use WordPress as a sort of general CMS to manage all of your storyworld in one place: production blog, BTS, characters and story elements, mobile content, etc. I wrote about it here:

Adding another article about it this week, as I start in an an actual project with it.

I think some of this maybe over some people's heads, but I do find it very interesting. When you port to the iPhone, let me know. The iPhone has notification services that you can turn on or off. As soon as the app updates with new content you will be notified with text and sound. I'm sure the Android has something similar.

How are you doing all this when you still have post looming for LOST CHILDREN?

I'm in the middle of editing a feature now and its hard to find time to do anything else.

Yeah, most of this won't concern most people. In the end, hopefully, there will just be cool apps for them to play with. On Android I can actually run background services, so I can alert the user that there is new content any time I want. Just one of the many many ways Android is a superior platform :)

As for time...I just don't sleep that much :) And the software stuff is kind of part of my business. So I use some "software time" to do some of this stuff.

Also, though I am heavy into post now, I do not have a deadline. I decided to just make it right and perfect. That will mean several rounds of focus groups and feedback on the cut as we go. I am not going to rush that process. I will have a basic rough cut by Sept, but we are probably looking at next spring before the film is done.

Is that your feature????? What is it????
