The Little Clock

Bag of Douche
Does anybody know the little clock that is before lots of movies, it used to be a bunch of big letters that played 1 after the other, and this is in the same vein...

Hmm let me find something that uses it, hold...

I see these alot and they all look alike, is there someplace to DL (like how there are DLable color boards etc) or is this something I have to make and animate me'self?

Yes, i know it wouldn't be that hard to make, but I'm just seeing ALOT of these around and they all look the same so I was just wondering...

Re: The Little Clock

That little clock is cool. Hmmm... think I'll make one as well. I gonna use Adobe Illustrator and export the art as a string of png's or jpg's. I'll then assemble them in Vegas, giving each image a length of 29 frames. Perhaps as an added flourish, I'll even add in a 10k beep too.

You could use any paint program to create the images, but you will have to have a video editing program (you could use FCP or AfterEffects), where you can assemble them with a precise length (24 or 30). Be sure to match your final framing (4:3 or 16:9) so that the art is not stretched to fit.

Re: The Little Clock

there is one built into premiere pro and presumable other programs like final cut and vegas...

i keep meaning to fire up after effects and make my own in 16:9

Re: The Little Clock

It's the countdown, a convention for film editors to mark the in/out points of a roll. There are some conventions about the time it stops, the number of seconds in black, the audio beeps etc... You better follow them, since the only use they can be depends on it. People mostly do them, since it's a very easy task, animation-wise. And a custom countdown can look way cooler than your NLE's built in. But I'm sure nobody will care about the countdown, unless your video REALLY sucks.
