Ok, so I know there are plenty of posts about this but I'm just venting. Got a 100b, shot video in 24p, editing in FCE (that rhymes lol) and these lines are screwing with my masterpiece. lol

I'm *thinking* if I export the movie from FCE and import it in Premiere could that rid the video of the interlacing? I heard on here somewhere that with Premiere you don't get the lines.

FCE can't remove pulldown. You should cut with Premiere (as long as you have Premiere Pro 2.0 or later) if you want to cut as native 24p.

Never deinterlace 24p footage. What you want is pulldown removal, which is not -- not -- the same thing. Premiere Pro can do this; FCE cannot.

oops- never used express version- sorry 'bout that

Yeah, the problem is that the editing program you're using, doesn't allow 24p editing. So it's editing it as embedded in 60i. Nothing you can do about it, really.

In the future, if you want to avoid interlace lines and still work on FCE, you might consider using 30P instead.

@David thanks so much for telling me that because I thought they were the same thing. I'm learning. : )

Thanks everyone!! Yes, Barry I think I will start using 30p instead. But will it still give me that filmy look?

30p is sort of a hybrid look between film and video. If you absolutely have to stick with FCE, you might find the workflow a lot easier with 30p, but ony you can judge whether you prefer the look of it. If you want to go with 24p, I strongly recommend you look into alternative editing software, because FCE isn't the right tool for that job.
