The Last Day is an improvised film devised and created on the last day of 2011.

We set out our own set of self-inflicted rules to create a completely improvised film. We weren't allowed to think of any ideas beforehand, we would start at 9am and finish by 6pm and we would all bring a few random props on the day.

All of the scenes were shot within 4 hours with the rest of the time being spent location hunting, creating characters and devising the storyline as we went.

Production-wise it's very good.

Soundwise: some "distortion" at the beginning and the cellphone... ALWAYS turn off cellphones...specially if the screen is not visible.
If the screen is visible, most of the time ringtone, background ambience etc is added in post. And also, sometimes cellphones use to do "normal" and sometimes not...

I was gutted when I heard all of the phone interference on the audio. A daft mistake that I shall never make again. The Iphone in particular is very bad for interference.

Do you think there is anything that could be done to remove the interference? I'd be happy to pay if I could get the audio files fixed.

That was fun. I watched all of it which is rare for most short films posted. I'd edit it down a tad though.

I laughed out loud at one point which I rarely do.

I liked the story and setting and colours and props and goofiness of the characters and the ending.

And you shot a film in a day. Awesome.

Hi Searcher,

Your comment means a great deal to me, I'm glad you enjoyed it! When you feel constrained or stressed with all things video/film you just need to grab a few friendly actors and just go out and shoot something there and then. Even if it's a bit rough around the edges, if it entertains even just a handful of people I'm happy.

Also to dre83:

I took your comments on-board and managed to rid the film of the phone interference. I hated the way it interrupted the ending and now it's really clean!

So you've added ambience sound of other shots/takes without the cellphone and added SFX of cellphone sounds ?

and mixing wise it needs also some small "improvements"... For example when the girl comes from behind the three, you can hear the ambience sound level going up. (more noise also).
