'The Key Guardian' Trailer

Hey guys,

Have finished putting together a small trailer for my new short film. We shot it over two days with a next-to-nothing budget on the HVX200 (202 here), and I am extremely happy with the outcome.

I am looking into putting up a website over the next while so I will keep you posted.

'The Chronicles of the Key Guardian: The Heritage' is an independent first chapter to an epic tale, which I hope myself and everybody that helped out can get funding for to reach a much wider audience.

Thanks

First off, I like it. I think your lighting on the armor is great. It seems like really polished gear so the highlights must have been dificult to deal with. It's interesting to see someone try and do something that seems epic with a small cast. It's rather difficult to pull off. As an editor, I would suggest a way way faster cut trailer with a lot more camera movement. It will mask the lack of a large battle scene. One of my early jobs was on a film called chapters by quest pictures in 98. It was an epic type film on a micro budget and we had the same issues. The guys that cut that thing together did an amazing job with fast cuts and crafty camera angles. The viewer never really wanted to see the big scene because they were so caught in the little skirmishes.

Best of luck and I look forward to seeing more.

Hey Mike - thanks for the input. I was wondering about that myself quite recenently, and now that I watch it again I really agree with you. Will definetly look into it.

Thanks again

Hi Alan. Dont like the youtube compression, but.... Anyway would be good if we saw some more background at the start leading up to (as mentioned) a fast cut battle scene.

The armour does look good. I was a little confused, maybe it was compression, but during some action it seemed the actors were acting in slo mo?

One final note - Id suggest, get an original soundtrack and dump the use of unlicenced music.

Hey mate,

Yeah the compression does damper with it a little, yes some of it was shot on 50fps hense the slowmotion.

Soundtrack is temporary until we get some original stuff (we have somebody working ont it now)

Thanks for your imput

Alan
