The Joggers/The Natural History in 24p

National Lampoon's AV Squad dug out an interview from its archives featuring Startime Records label-mates The Joggers and The Natural History. We caught up with them during the CMJ Music Marathon at Startime's showcase, in Brooklyn, NY, at Southpaw. The bands talk about their names, touring and songwriting.

We filmed each interview with the Panasonic DVX100 set to 24p-Normal (F5). We used 1 300+ ARRI fresnel and 1 650 ARRI fresnel. We wanted to experiment with the white balance, so we oversturated the image with yellow to better fit the mood (these bands had not interviewed for television and seemed nervous). We love the color, here, but I imagine opinions will vary. Audio was gathered with Audio Technica boundary mics and all editing and effects we're created in Apple's Final Cut Pro 4 (with help from Effect Essentials Camera Flash filter and some stock film leaders).

Nice work...I think it looks great...one q.....
is it me or is the audio sync off a bit?

Re: The Joggers/The Natural History in 24p

The broadcast version looks a-ok, but I'll admit the on-line version looks a little off. I do use the Audio Off-Sync feaure in FCP4 with all of my DVX100 footage. I think this sync issue is due to compression and Internet speed. If I stop and start the video, it seems to get back in-sync, but tends to drift. Not sure why this is happening since my previous clip posts don't do this.
