SHORT: "The Job" RED Epic short film in Alaska.

A short film we shot a couple months ago, shot over the course of 2.5 days, edited for another 2.5 days. From concept to theatre screening was 7 days. Mostly shot using old ARRI zeiss primes and the RED 18-85. Enjoy!

The openingshot is very Epic, very cool. Very nice you guys putll this of in such a short time. Don't think I would be able to do that. The bad guy in the orange suit did a perfect job on acting and has great looks and voice for his part.
Also the sets and the prop's where very nice.

The thing i did't like is the grading and i.q. you got out of the epic. Blacks look way crushed and it looks like it is sharpend way to much. WB isn't that fine to i.m.h.o. Really didn't like the look of the whole. The outside shots where little better.
Sorry for the harsh crittics but I think it's better to say, for your own improvement.

But respect you where able to do this. Still liked it.

Thanks for the comments. In all honesty I'm not a huge fan of the grading either. We had to grade it over only a couple hours in the middle of the night, and our system kept crashing from the 5K files. Most of it is pretty fast. We might go back and regrade....but I doubt it, this is the most I've ever shared a project, most of the time I just move on to the next. We only have short windows to actually shoot shorts in, so we grab them when our paid productions allow us.

Worst prisoner transport driver ever. lol. That guy (in the story) clearly doesn't get paid enough to care. I loved his apathetic attitude. Especially when he keeps driving calmly, in a straight line and at the same speed while his co-workers are killed, overtaken and the convict is escaping. Guy did not give a #@$%. Then he's smokin' a cigg when the girl-agent gets back and simply says, "He's gone". Oh well. Just another day collecting a check from the man. :)

Intentional or not, I love it when the guy in the orange suit briefly catches eye contact with the camera at 4:40. Normally I hate it when that happens but for his character and the timing he does it at it just fits. Sort of feels like he looks at us, the audience, and goes "Yeah, that's right."
One thing I really did not love was the guy with the pony tail - He just was not a character. He had the lines of a character, but he delivered them with the passion of a dead squirrel. I'm not holding back on this one because to me, he ruined what would have been a spot on short.
Having said that I really liked the writing and the pace of it all -- excellent work :)
