The Indian Mattebox...

Got some info from the seller. He (in broken English) said the MB is made entirely of plastic and the french flag is made of metal. He also said the plastic was good quality - whatever that means? Seems like there is enough mystery around this one to just stay away. After all, $280+ship isn't exactly free.
 
Thanks for the heads up. I think I'd rather risk going with Gerhard at geardear.com if I was going to spend that amount. I don't think he's perfected his MB quite yet, but is working on it from use input. Some had a review over on the redrock forums.
 
wow i really like the idea of a foam ring backing instead of stepdown rings, makes it much more universal.
 
Shunyata, please give a review of it when you get it in including how long the shipping takes.

Wow, nothing like using your first post to call some long-time members racist. The point was that there wasn't enough info about the matte box or its maker to warrant risking 300 bucks. Glad you're willing to take that risk so the rest of us can learn from it, but come on, leave the rhetoric out of it.
 
I bought one off ebay and paid Aug 3rg. I'm no matte box aficionado, but I can post my thoughts on the build quality. I'll also let you know how long it takes to get it.
 
thanks pelican. Please do let us know. The second you give the ok ill order as well...i think the main thing im curious about is how well it works with the M2 and a Nikon Lens.

Also the part on the back, looks almost like rubber? Does that wrap around the lens or how does that work? how would it work with a follow focus.?

I don't have an M2, but I'll post my impression, and how it fits along side the Foxi focus.

Enough with the racism garbage - using the words "Broken English" was stating a FACT, not some sort of racial slander. Often on eBay one of the warning signs of a scam (again, this is a fact) is a foreign selling location. Look, I'm all for getting a good deal and getting quality and if the matte box turns out to be quality, I'll buy one myself - no matter who is selling it.
