The HVX's 1080i (newbie question)

Hey guys, another newbie question here.

According to what I read the HVX records 24"p" in an interlaced stream, or something.

My question is, when you import this footage into FCP, do you get the 24 "clean" frames back, as if they were progressive?

yes. 24pa will give you pure 24 frames per second. It's just a limitation of the codec that requires it to be initially embedded in a 60i stream. Won't effect the final output at all, and it will be genuine real 24 frames per second.

Same thing the DVX had to do with the limitations of minidv needing to be 60i.

yea... but that is if you do 1080i 24PA Advance (which does a pull down).

Again . . .

24p standard and 24pA are both true 24p. Both are recorded with a pulldown.

I suspect a lot of people think 24p standard isn't true 24p simply because Final Cut Pro can't automatically remove standard pulldown (whereas most other NLEs can). But I assure, you, 24p standard is every bit as much true 24p as 24pA.
