The HVX200 for $1500?

I am curious, (that is if anyone here has an answer at all) why some sites can sell the HVX200 for so incredibly cheap. See link:

These are Grey Market cameras and companies selling your frauds and scams.
Dont touch these sites. Also check the Resellerratings.com reports first.
Here is a link to that company with their ratings.
I dont think a .11 out of 10 is very good, haha.

Did that help at all?
Just bookmark that website. Or just use B&H photo.

I do think that these are spambots. Everyone keeps posting these low priced HVXs. I mean maybe not the OP of this thread, but come on people! Why would anyone even consider something like this?

jesusmarimba!!! we cover this same question like 14 times a week.

if ANY dealer could legally sell a $5000 camera for $1500 (or even $3000) - THEY ALL WOULD! these dealers are ALL at best "bait and switch" or at worst, total SCAMS.

you simply WILL NOT find a new, non-stolen, factory waranteed HVX for under about $4800 - PERIOD. dont let anyone try to sell you an hvx without a lens/viewfinder/mic. they dont ship that way.

also - any dealer who includes a "FREE" case, tripod, lens cleaner, lcd screen cover, etc is shady and is just selling you useless BS that is FREE for a reason - its crap!

spec comm, abel cine, b&h, full compass, microsearch. all authorized dealers charging the lowest reasonable prices on new gear. outside of that and youre rolling the dice.

I'd like to add Adorama.com to your list. They are a legit company. They primarily sell still stuff, but I bought my HVX there and I've had nothing but great service from them!

No, I'm not a spambot, nor am I by any means trying to somehow 'promote' that site, I've stumbled across several sites of that nature with similar prices and was just curious if anyone knew why in god's name they were so cheap. I've gotten answers. Thank you to everyone.

I also did some research of my own and met someone who bought a DVX100b for like 1600, and what he got was this horrible like 'demo' model, with a plastic body, and plastic lenses, and a 15min batt and 15min tape. It was a horrible experience for him. He was able to return the item after threatening to sue for false advertisement though, so that's good.

Actually, this probably isn't spam. A lot of people buying camera gear -- still or video -- understandably look for the lowest price. They don't know about the whole Brooklyn scam operations out there. Other websites like DPReview.com get similar questions twice a day.

I apologize to the OP of the thread - I just found it a little strange. I mean, as someone else mentioned in another thread...we get posts like these a couple times a week now. Of course everyone's looking for the lowest price, but with the search function I find it pretty easy to find answers about really low priced items.

Wow, TWICE a day? That's madness. Surely people don't think these prices are legit. Maybe a couple hundred off, but not a few thousand.

Just my thoughts,

Kegan

I can see that the 1500 price is a scam, but what about those guys at ebay selling the HVX for 3800? Is there anyone who has a possitive or negative experience with them? I'm from Argentina and I really don't mind if the camera is grey market and doesnt have a US warranty cause I couldnt use it anyways, I just dont want pay that amount of money and get nothing in return.
I'm asking you this because the HVX over here costs 7k US$ and if I buy it from any "serious" dealer in the USA I'd have to pay 5k + 2.5k (for customs taxes, 50% of the price  ) and that's a lot more than what I could afford. It is not that I'm a cheap guy

You might get a used HVX with high mileage and some bumps and bruises, missing XLR covers and a couple broken battery tabs for $3,800, but you won't get one in much better condition for much cheaper unless it's stolen.
