Still new with my DVX100 very short clip of me working with a couple of actors locally in my area... check it out let me know what you guys think... http://www.sharkle.com/video/97117/ I just purchased the octava mk012 mic and was testing it out on my boom still haven't found the best way to pick up the best audio with this mic. I actually placed it between them in the car shots. And had a friend hang it over them on my boom at the table shot. Still not sure what levels I should be shooting at for voice. Maybe you guys can shed some light for me... Thanks ALso just noticed after I uploaded through windows media converter that my voices are now out of sync. Still have to figure this uploading coversion settings crap out!..

I think this could have had better lighting and sound in the table shot... guess I'll critique my own clip... lol

Sound wasn't too bad. I have an Audio Technica shotgun that I absolutely love. You might want to watch out on your edits. I am guessing you are new to editing. Pay close attention to a few shows that you enjoy watching. Watch how they cut between scenes. I notice that you cross dissolved over the same shot of the guy in the driver's seat. Also, they 3D cube spin transition between the character intros was a bit distracting.

If you took some notes on techniques you like on TV shows and re-edited, I bet it would be 1,000 time better.

Personally i try to avoid transition effects....even the cross disolve i think is pushing it. But the cube spins, wipes, pushes, squishes, and any other effect with an all too appropriate name should be left to wedding and bar mitzvah videos.
For example, when you cross disolved on the same shot (most likely to blend two takes or cover something up), you should instead cut away to something else (ie. an insert of some object or exterior shot of the car, or even a reaction shot of the passenger). Sometimes, if it works with the style of the rest of the film, you can even do what you did, but without the cross dissolve. Just a strait cut. thanks to filmmakers like tony scott and david fincher (amongst others) they've made it fashonable to make the editing obvious and do obtrusive cutting....i dont know..something to play with.

Your right I'm going to definitely re edit that it was just something I was playing around with for a actual test with the lighting and sound really. But I will make sure that the cuts are on point. Thanks for the advice though.. well received!
