This is a school project for my horror genre class. We had to recreate a genre of horror film, and we chose to emulate the 60's. We did a modern day twist on themes of a psychotic killer and the nice guy next door.

The story isn't the greatest, we spent most of our efforts on the production trying to match up the HMC150 and 7D. Let me know what you think.

I think you have some highlight problems throughout. Pink and purple.. Dialog was really rough and mechanical. Interesting conclusion. Quite the prison system she has in the basement of her house.

Audio had issues throughout. Dialog was almost inaudible during parts of the laundromat scene. Was it your intent to have almost no contrast in the grading? I found it kind of bland personally, but it may have been the look you were after.

My friend did the color correction and I agree there are some issues. He said he was trying to go for a technicolor type of look. Audio certainly had issues, in my opinion it is the biggest issue of the whole movie. We shouldn't have recorded the audio in the laundromat at all.

To be honest it's hard to find good acting when you are using just your friends for a school project. Had this been an independant project I would have found better actors and actually worked with them better. For now we just needed them to get through the script, which they did.

How come I'm not surprised anymore that sound is most of the time (read: always) the biggest isue ? :-p

And still...Most sound isues can be fixed very easy without any cost

- chosing your location,
- ask people to be quiet, or to wait a few minutes to do something
- use public places during closing days or closing hours

Also I think or you used the mice from the camera, or the "soundguy" didn't dare to come closer... Don't be afraid....

I'm going to try something....might work...might not :-p

I agree sound is the weakest in this movie and I need a lot of work on it. Granted it was a school project edited mostly the night before, had this been my own thing I would have spent a LOT more time on it.

- I know we shouldnt have shot in the laundromat but we did anyway
- We used two RODE NTG-1 shotgun mics and a zoom recorder, my sound guy was completely inexperienced and it was all shot in one day, we couldnt even do retakes.

You could have shot in the laundromat...But.... better would have been like during closing day, or when there's no one there... But I know the situation: it's like "every wednesday there's nobody there"...except when you decide to shoot a movie.... It's the same with "quiet streets"...Where no cars are passing except on shooting days...

Since the color and sound issues have already been discussed, I will say that you had some nice camera movement in there, as well as decent editing. I particularly like the shot at 2:44, with the tree and branches against the sun in the background, and the camera tracks right. Very nice. Looked a little blownout at the very start of the shot, but once the camera moved a little further to the right and the tree came between it and the sun, it was great.

You definitely have some stuff to focus on and improve, but you've got a foot in the door here and I think that's something worth celebrating. Are you going to school for film, or is this an extra class you're taking?
