The Handoff

Hello all. I've had the dvx100b for about a week and a half now and I'm enjoying every minute of it. After a couple of days getting accustomed to it, me and my buddy went out and filmed a little short in one night. It was just a two men crew (me and him) and we were pressed for time (not the safest place in the neighborhood). That being said, please feel free to truly tell me what you think of the short, as I'm not one to use excuses. Here's some screenies to see if you're interested and a link at the bottom.

Thanks for the time.

Couple Mistakes: I realized through the editing process I shot my closeup (guy with tie) with too little light, and I tried fixing it with CC but I still can tell. Also, the third shot you can see the shadow of the camera.

The audio was a bit too... I dunno... indie-ish? The dialogue sounded okay, but every other sound was amplified. If a fly landed on that picnic bench, we probably would have heard it. Audio is what seperates the good movies from the bad ones. You're acting was good and believable. You're face looked blury though. I thought it was fine other than the audio. For one night? Damn good job. Isn't it a blast?! Looking forward to the next one.

One thing I learned is to put those rubber bumpers with the sticky tape on the bottom of stuff like dishes or glasses being set on the table during a scene so you don't catch that loud clanging noise. You can also tell your actor to pick the briefcase straight up rather than dragging it across the picnic table. Try an eliminate anything that will make noise, even bracelets that may bump the table dangling off a character's wrist.
