The Hackintosh thread - build a $3800 mac pro for $1100

How often you have to erase your hard disk and reinstall Windows to maintain that speed is more what I meant. Unless of course you stay off the internet completely and keep installations to a minimum and are 100% sure of the sources.

After 2 weeks I've made really great progress on hacking an ASUS UX430 14" i7 8550u (Kaby Lake) 16GB 512GB SSD Intel HD 620 1920x1080 ($999 USD) to run Sierra 10.12.6 OSX. I kept the native Windows 10 on a partition for convenience but to be honest have little plans spending any time there

Hacking a laptop is far greater in difficulty then I had ever imagined compared to hacking a desktop. The reason for this is that laptops perform far more functions over a desktop then one might think. Examples are getting keyboard backlighting to work, or more importantly screen brightness, then there is WiFi, Bluetooth, lid sleep functions, battery management, etc....

I have a lot working so far, but there is still quite a bit of tweaking and patching left to do. The time goes into researching what's needed and then a lot of trial and error based testing.
