THe Grudge 2

I enjoyed the first film more than not because it did have an air of creepiness and certain segments were shot very very well. And yes, I love my fellow All My Kids alumn SMG.

That said, the second movie was worse than a student film. It felt like Uwe Bowell had taken over the helm. It had none of the atmosphere or even just nice compositions of the first film.

PLUS, I counted FIVE times the microphone was BLATANTLY in the frame. At first I thought I must have been seeing things. It got to be a little game after awhile-will the mic be in the shot or not... sadly, that's the only thing that kept this garbled mess of a movie remotely interesting. It was slow, boring, and brought nothing but confusion to the table and further muddled the already muddy rules of "a grudge".

Worth seeing for how truly awful it is and for your own chance to play the microphone game, but beyond that, I have a grudge with the filmmakers of this hookey movie.

I feel pretty dumb defending anything about the grudge....but that mic thing is probably just the projector not being centered at the theater. I saw the terminal and lady in the water with it incorrectly framed and there were mics everywhere. You can bet niether M. night nor Mr. Spielberg would actually have a mic in frame.

Yeah I had thought that too, but it seemed pretty well framed up. That's probably it, but at least looking for the mic made the movie interesting for awhile.

And I don't know about Shamalamadingdong, but I'm sure Steven wouldn't have mics in the shot.

I enjoyed very much Ju-on 2, which was the Grudge 2 in Japan. Since the American " The Grudge" was released after tJu-on 1 and 2, and was a compilation of scares from those movies, I'm really looking forward to see what the original director and writer can come up with in this new one, since he surelly will not repeat the same scares already portrayed in the previous ones...

Who can forget the " Phone" voice? :)

I can tell you right now the American Grudge 2 is nothing like Ju-on 1 or 2. It's a huge mess. There's no logic...or even less logic than usual in Japenese to American translation. The story is boring; the directing VERY amateurish and uninspired; not one single "scare" or even scary image...this IS a horror movie, right?

It's really an embarrassment of a movie. I thought they couldn't do worse than the Ring 2... man was I wrong. This movie makes the Ring 2 look like Lord of the Rings.

Wow... What happened? It is done by the same creative team, isn't it?

even though it's well made and theres nice shots in it, these movies are extremely boring to me.

i like a good horror movie but the grudge is more like a horror to sit through

I find a lot of the Japanese horror films slower paced and often "boring". I think a lot of what makes them so good to Japanese culture is just lost in translation. Overall I do like the Japanese counterparts better than the American ones, but I do like different elements of both. Ringu is still much better than the Ring to me. Ju-On is much better than Grudge. I think the Dark Waters are pretty evenly matched overall. Both Pulses sucked, IMO.

I couldn't agree more. I slept through the first one. I'm getting really sick of the Japanese style-over-substance type movies. Honestly, how much do you expect a little kid in makeup to scare me? I'd just punt him across the room.:)
