The Green Hornet

Man, this looks as bad as I feared it would. Michel Gondry at the helm gave me hope, as I thought it would be a more off the wall take on the superhero that would at least be bizarre and different...but this looks crushingly mundane. Seth Rogen looks way out of his depth, as if Robert Wuhl from Burton's Batman showed up in Nolan's Batman as Bruce Wayne.

Isn't this Batman? Iron Man? How many rich dudes/super heroes are there?

Yeah, I fear that the budget was probably too high on this for the studio to give Gondry any rope. This looks about as good as DD.

I dunno. I like the fact that they're playing up that they've switched the Hero and Sidekick characters. What I mean is, obviously Rogen/Hornet is the hero, but they seem to play him as a sidekick type. Works well considdering what happened after they cast Kato in the TV show.

They way they're doing it here though reminds me a lot actually of BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, which can't be a bad thing.

doesn't look too bad to me either. Gondry is very imaginative so I'm hoping for the best. I don't really know much about the Green Hornet so I will probably skip it anyway. But I am still a sucker for Phantom Cam fight scenes.

LOL. Ya'll crazy. I didn't think Rogen's Hornet would be any good, but this looks really good. LOL. I know that wasn't what you were going for. But that Smurfs movie is too little too late.

My apologies. I didn't click the link. I thought you were referring to the third Green Hornet thread somebody started in the cafe.

No problem.

They just released the international trailer, which I think is slightly better than the first trailer. It's the same for the most part, but they show a bit more of the action, and it looks like there will be a lot of different action sequences, so that's exciting.

huh? Now, I am certain I commented on this Green Hornet thread (or the other one) a few times yet my words are no where to be found? Bueller? Bueller? :undecided

The use of Phantom was so integral to the film that I shot tests with the director before the project was even greenlit. The "Kato Vision" effect was something entirely in Michel's head and then we had to realize it for him. That man is a visual genius.

Critics dont know didly

I just saw it and if you want to see a refreshing Action Packed movie go see this.

Forget the 3d for abit the best part are the real action stunts wow .
Sound is great. I think I'm in love with Cameron Diaz again.
This movie is well made !

I just saw it yesterday and Everts was dead on. Admittedly I went in with zero expectation but I ended up really enjoying it. The "Kato Vision" was pretty cool but the effect that blew me away was the bounty hunter/split screen sequence. It starts out with a 2 shot and a line divides the frame between the people. Then each side of the frame follows the person in it in different directions until they meet up with someone else. Then each of those frames split again following the individuals and so on for several splits. I can't wait to see it on Blu-Ray to follow that closer and see where the cuts were. It looked seamless.

And Seth Rogen didn't do too bad. I was really uncertain about that and maybe they could have found a better fit but he did OK. His style didn't seem like the hero/lead type but it fit his rich/slacker character fairly well. Jay Chou kicked ass as Kato. And there were a few shout outs to Bruce Lee, that was pretty cool.

It is worth seeing but it won't kill you to wait for DVD/ Blu-Ray
