GH2 The greatest hotshoe mount in the world

I reviewed a ruige monitor a while ago and noted that the hotshoe mount failed on me, sending the monitor flying at one point.
As result, I set out to find the greatest hot shoe mount in the world, price being no object.

Do yourself a favor if you're mounting something heavy or massive on top of your camera:

the Manfrotto 492LCD MICRO BALL HEAD - MA492LCD

I's not cheap, $50 but this is actually a mini tripod head converted to a hot shoe mount. It's heavy, built rock solid and
my monitor sits there like it and the camera' been forged from a single piece of metal. I'm pretty sure you could
stand on top of the thing. When you lock it in place, I think the earth would stop rotating before it failed.

I concur this thing is a lethal weapon - got mine from B&H too. I use it with my Zacuto EVF Pro. However it does rotate at the base of the head even when locked down. Hasn't been a problem for me yet but maybe for some ( unless I didn't tighten smth. enough).

the 492lcd is what you want.

Unless you use a cage to screw 1/4-20 stuff into:

I will agree that the Manfrotto micro ball exposes most "included" ballheads to be cheap garbage.
I snagged a closeout on Manfrotto's predecessor to this (the 482) for $15 from a supplier... score!

Is there a part number for just the stainless steel shoe with the 1/4-20 screw, I'm sure it's fairly cheap, I can see some uses for that.

Like I said before it's a really solid unit - wish I could have found the 482lcd as it's a bit smaller. This thing is freaking huge on a GH2. Throw it in a sock or a pillow case ala Sean Penn in Bad Boys and this thing is a registered leathal weapon LOL
