The Gift of Eternal Music - A Short Film using the AF100

It was my first weekend with the AF100. And a feeble attempt TO LEARN the camera, by way of a silly little short.

Now--two weeks later--I finally got around to editing it. Life always gets in the way.

Please forgive me for the content... it was done as kind of a joke.

I will fix the JUMP CUT this weekend.

Very cool, and nice look!

So a mobius strip of music is eternal, neverending?

Yes, that music box plays a strip of music that, if twisted into a mobius configuration (half turn on one end, then attached to the other end to form a complete circle) will play a song forwards (NORMAL) and then backwards and upside down.

There are many Mobius type structured movies out there... David Lynch has directed and co-written a few.

This short is about the ruts in which we all live, and how it's our choice to get in OR out of them. David's darker side gives him the music box over and over again... it's his decision whether or not to keep answering the doorbell.

But, really, it was just a way for me to learn the camera and play with 48 fps, plus try out a little grading.

So you didn't use a twisting backwards/upside down music track?

I also thought maybe his life was a mobius strip, I know mine is...

I was planning on using the music box music backwards/upside because it is VERY CREEPY to hear "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" that way...but I liked the Amadeus-esque music so much that I turned off the twisted creepy music track for the final mix... oh well.

Yeah, I hear you, we all live that way it seems.

It blows my mind that these strips have only ONE, continuous side. Freaky.
