The game is up Sony, time to drop SxS prices

I'm sure it will work fine. Yes, I bought three of these expresscard adapters.
I own one now and two on the way ordered from the same location, but also coming from different points, one UPS and one USPS... LOL Sounds familiar huh!

I purchased the Lexar 8 Gb SSD card and it works perfeclty with my EX3 camera capturing 1080i HD.
I have a Mac Pro with the Sony SxS USB reader. There are no problems reading the Sony, Sandisk SxS cards, however it does not read the Lexar card.
Do I need to purchase a Lexar SSD reader or is there a Mac or Sony drivers?

Thank you

Be careful with those cards in HQ, pretty much everyone finds that they work fine for a while then suddenly throw a media error. They are much more reliable in SP mode although still have a tendency to throw a restore media error when pushed (start/stop quickly etc). I bought 2, will carry one as emergency media and am using the other in my laptop as a 16GB back up drive. The Kensington/SD combo is much much more reliable.

These cards do not work with the Sony reader, you will need either an Express Card slot in your computer of find a generic Express Card reader. In the mean time you can use your camera as a USB card reader.

Thanks for the information. Yes, I was planning in using the Lexar as my back up in case I run out of memory from the 2 16Gb Sandisk SxS cards and the 2 8 Gb Sony SxS cards.

I have not being able to find a generic Express card reader for my Mac Pro

Thanks again!

If you go with the Kensington and Ultra II SDHC cards, you will not have to worry about finding an expresscard reader for your PC. Just use a SDHC card reader which only cost
$8 USD

That is true.

Thank you!

I don't think the Lexar cards are a waist. You can use the camera to download your footage to your computer. Since I have the Sony SxS reader I did not want to use the camera.

So far I have not had any problems shooting 1080i HD.
I shot both the HD and SQ quality and they work fine. I have a hard time seeing the difference between the HD and SQ quality. Maybe someone else can?

It's a bit of a shame, at least I only did that with 2. You might get a bit back on eBay for some of them.

It is also interesting to note how much easier it is to copy files from SD cards to a desktop computer than any Express Card drive unless you bought the $250 Sony USB card reader... I high end USB SD card reader (Lexar Pro for example) is about 1/10th that cost. Which raised another interesting point, it seems a common trend than anything SxS costs about 10x generic equivalent...

You know what we don't know is if the SxS PMW-EX30 deck supports this Kensington SD combo. Anyone know anyone with that deck? Does it support the SxS HDD?

I wonder how long it will take Sony to update this deck to record in 50Mbps 4:2:2 mode from its HD-SDI input?
