the future of SD.... dvx usability

My dvx , orig model is like new, as I've been focused on still photography, but wanna do a few projects for the web or possibly cable.

Is there any reason I couldn't up rez footage to HD if a client wanted that.... guess I'm wondering if keeping the dvx, DSR11 & SD monitors is a good idea, for another year.....rather than "giving it away" and dumping 3.5k into a HMC150 ..and if it'll be good only as a doorstop or a viable tool for another year.

For those who've gone to HD, think there'll still use for SD footage, for another year or 2?

Could always rent a HD cam if a project requires the look. I'll prob sell off SD monitors & deck and just keep the DVX and go with scopebox for field monitoring.

i see no reason for you to get rid of your DVX, especially if video isn't your main focus. what kind of projects do you do?

also if you're so concerned with the HMC150 being obsolete quickly you should think about doing some research and look beyond low end, entry-level HD cameras.

Instant HD Advanced is an incredible plugin for Adobe After Effects. I've used it on projects before to get HD from my DVX footage. But for the most part, I think the DVX is wonderful and I see no reason to go HD. But that's just me. :)

Instant HD Advanced looks great, I just watched the online tutorial. Wonder how it compares to Boris Continuum UpRez? UpRez is a lot less expensive.

http://19587.solomodels.com/ This is the kind of model photography I've been focused on since getting the dvx and putting filmmaking on hold.

I wanna do some high quality behind the scenes promotional shoots of my photoshoots , and also get back to writing ,shooting shorts with actors...... possibly a mini series for the web, or at the most cable. For these venues the dvx will most certainly suffice.

Actually I meant the DVX , not the HMC150 becoming obsolete. Probably oughta sell my deck & SD monitors while I can .... and continue using the dvx till I really need hd.

Looks like scopebox on a laptop would make a very suitable monitor.
