The Friday the 13th Film Series

I am in the middle of watching F13th 'Jason Lives' and as mentioned thee are some realyl nice moments and then there are moments that leave you wondering what the hell they were smoking

There is even one exchange where the '180 line' rule is not only abused by anally violated; actor is looking this way, that way when the other actor is over here than over there...... bad bad bad (Ill post picks later)

I would love a shot at writing a F13th and helming it. Just make some off the chart one.

I felt at the time and now that Jason Lives was a half assed attempt to get Friay fans back after the mess that was part V, which featured a Jason imitator. I like V because its just sooooo...awful and crude, but its not a good movie. Jason Lives which should been a kick ass return for the big guy was a movie that felt like it had two helmers.

I know what I would do. I would totally bring it back to the basics. None of this larger-than-life crap that they've been going with for the last few movies. I'd bring it back to Camp Crystal Lake and have it small and creepy.

That would definitely be the way to go. I'd find a way to make it more mysterious as to who Mrs. Vorhees was... like WE all know that character that is the killer is Mrs. Vorhees but which character would she be???

I'd have to think about it to see what else I'd want to do with it. I just watched the uncut edition the other night and some ideas then but I'll need some Diet Pepsi to rejuvinate my brain!

I would have Kane Hodder do a cameo...just because he's so cool!

Hell yea Horse. This film needs a return to the basics. Which is actually something I've heard the new one is going to do. No more of this ridiculous Jason in space bullshit. Or "Cronenberg-esque" body snatching demon.

And personally i think Pamela Vorhees should be left to the wayside or only be included as an insight to Jason's psyche. He's the reason I love F13 films. If they had kept Betsy Palmer on as the killer in this series I doubt it'd have gotten as far as it has or acheived the pop culture iconic status Jason has. Can you imagine how ridiculous VII would be if a decomposing Betsy Palmer was smashing some naked coed in a sleeping bag into a tree repeatedly.

Actually that's a pretty hysterical image.

True, but one of the things that made Ft13th such a shocker in its time was the killer was a woman...

I don't think they were planning on a runaway success and the greenlight to make more....lots more.... much like Carpenter with Halloween. The story, acc. to JC, ended with Halloween...there wasn't much else to tell. For Ft13th...they went to the obvious choice...Pamela avenged Jason's death....now Jason will come back to avenge hers.

I'm torn in the remake. I liked the Pamela Vorhees aspect and I don't think you can just re-write that part of Ft13th lore, but seeing Jason again would be a treat as well.

And yes, hysterical imagery!!!

Remakes...remakes...remakes... why?...why?...why? Take that energy and make something new and different and exciting!

Ought2 is right

When we found out it was his mother killing everyone to avenge her kid; that was deep. Freaky deaky.

Well, I just finished Part VI

Bad bad bad. Definately at my level; like I am confident I can at least make a film like this piece of crap. It does have some brihgt moments; but for the most part it is just Jason running around ganking people for no real reaons other than they happen to be there.

It's fun watching Thom MAttehws (Who was much better in ROTLD) and the blonde is kind smoky but it's just bad filmmaking.

I too would love to see it back to its roots. SOmething simpler, plot driven. Or maybe its just ran its course.

Ofcourse, we can always invent our own Serial Killer dude. (Myers, Voorehees, Freddy, Candyman, Pumkin HEad, Children of the Corn.........................)

I always thouht th idea of a bunch of criminal insane dudes on the lam would suck (Like the scene in the original Halloween when Loomis and the Nurse goto the hospital in the rain?) NOw imagine all of those running around town one night...........................

Heebee Jeebees!

John,
You should really check out that Crystal Lake Memories book I mentioned. Its a great companion piece to the DVD collection... It really gives you some great insight into the making of each installment... some great interviews and a lot of nice shots. I've already gone through my favorite ones and will probably go through the other sequels today since we're buried under 2 feet of snow. The book is really like a cool making of doc for each film. I had some good laughs at who still has bad blood for who after all these years, who takes credit for what, and who thinks they still should have gotten a piece of the pie... good stuff. Betsy Palmer's interviews alone are worth it.

well like i said earlier i don't like slasher films because they're all basically alike... even with michael bay i wouldn't see it... i should open my eyes to new ideas and all but i really don't like slasher films... we'll see maybe if he does do it i will see it.... thats a BIG maybe
