"The Foley Artist" - Brilliant!

I learned more from that in 3 minutes than hours reading and watching engineers talk microphones.

There are several wonderfully absurd things in this short film.

The sound designer for the original Indiana Jones trilogy ran his fingers through a bowl of his wife's cheese casserole to create the "slimy" sounds of the snakes slithering all over each other. I went out to put some scraps in my compost tumbler the other day and found that it was full of very large maggots (not actually a bad thing in a composter). The funny/gross part is that they were making the same sound as the cheese casserole. I need to stick a mic down in there and capture it for my library.

He used the sound of someone biting an apple as part of the sound of when Indy grabs the vine after jumping across the pit in the opening scene. For the movie E.T. , he found the voice of ET in a grocery check-out line. The lady in front of him had an unusual voice. A few years later, Disney had an Indy ride that had ET say hello to everyone individually by name. They brought that poor lady in for 3 days in an attempt to record 10,000 different names. They gave up.

The lengths Foley artists go through is quite remarkable. For Indy, there is a scene where Indy grabs a bone from a skeleton and wraps a rag around it to gather up some oil floating on water in the underground crypts. The Foley artist went through the trouble of getting a bone to dip in water rather than just use their hand.

I'm assuming you are joking. The film is a comedy and nowhere close to reality.

Ok, since a Foley artist would not be acting in a short, then the credit below 'Girl' for 'Foley Artist' must be the actor who portrayed the Foley Artist. So who did the Foley for this short. It must be more fowl play.
