..beautiful alagory. :P

id like to take a second to say that i have this DVD.. perhaps not the latest version? but one of the originals anyway. and i just want to say that it would be worth your time or money to purchase, and study if your wondering what the dvx can do in the right hands. its an entertaining short with some great behind the scenes stuffs. ..it all blends together into a DVD thats just smurfy good.

Re: Art History DVD now available !!!

Thanks iamloser...
It is the same DVD that you have - the "new" part is a joint venture with dvxuser.

We figured that there are a lot of members of the DVXuser community who could be interested (or may even benefit) from checking out the DVD.

I will try to answer any and all questions that are raised here.

Re: Art History DVD now available !!!

I also purchased the DVD and thoroughly enjoyed the film.

The behind the scenes footage was really interesting too, especially finding out how they made the opening credits.

Well worth the money!!

Re: Art History DVD now available !!!

The trailer looks great. I'm interested to know:

1) Which model Arriflex 6x6 Mattebox was chosen and why (I assume for 4 stages but why that particular 6x6)?

2) How did it attach?

3) What kind of filter combinations were used when it was maxxed out.

Thanks,
Snoddy

Re: Art History DVD now available !!!

I've asked Jarred to help answer some of these...

but basically I don't know exactly which model of 6x6 matte box was used (it was 6x6 because the 4x4's weren't enough to cover the anamorphic adaptor - without butchering it which we couldn't do since it wasn't ours)

However I do know that the camera was mounted to a cheeseplate and then the rod system attached to that...
basically all the accessories were cine-camera accessories we just mounted them onto a DVX.

As for the actual filters used - we had chocolate, orange, yellow, promist, ultracon...some were used in combination with each other but don't remember exactly which ones. (that might be another one Jarred can answer if he remembers)

Re: The first official DVXuser short film on DVD !

The mattebox was an arri MB-14 with a 6 stage plug. the box was  mounted to cheeseplate on a  2" bench riser then to the arri wheels. The Anamorphic butted against the donut on the mattebox and blacked out with tape.

here it is:

Re: The first official DVXuser short film on DVD !

no orange filters but we did use chocolate, yellow +3 and +2, and a combination of ultracons that went up to +8 at times. some black promists as well but todd probally would use nets now. Antique Suede would also be in there.

Re: The first official DVXuser short film on DVD !

I just ordered my copy.

I am always happy to support another DVX'er.

Plus, my short film "The Aggie" will be out on DVD next week and I am curious to see how it matches up against "the big boys".
