hey everyone, here is a link to a music video i shot in the beginning of the month. its for a band called The Fire Still Burns (ex members of Lifetime and Ensign for anyone that follows the punk rock scene).

I plan on getting the record company the final version by the end of tomorrow. Any input would be grand. Let me know what you think!

thanks.

Loved it! Nice job. It felt typical so I can't say much for orginality or inspiration but you nailed the genre and the band should be proud. Looks solid and MTV Worthy

Bravo!

Very nice... I liked your imagery... perhaps it had a bit much of the obvious vignetting thing... but looked good.
I agree with Mr. Hudson. Something I've been wanting to see more of from these rock videos is less of the band and more of the story/concept. I don't mean to pick on you personally just a though in general. Good job. :)

Looks good. That sound change, from full sound to radio sound and back was kind of jarring. Other than that, it can hold it's own with most the is out there.

Good Work.

BTW, what was that shot on?

I liked it...I don't have much constructive feed back, just thought it works very well with the song. The only thing I don't see clearly is the tie between the stereos playing alone and the final crowd shots. I can only assume everyone left to go seek out the band. I hope that makes sense. Overall very cool...and very MTV worthy.
....D....

word bro. yeah, diggin it. cant remember his name, but dude on guitar ... he used to play bass with ensign .. and am i mistaken, but singer used to play bass for ensign as well?

cool vid. like the smooth shots as opped to highly charged camera jitter. diggin the radio cut. very effective. overall a great piece. i would only ask for quicker cuts ... to keep it moving just a bit more.

what label are they on?

Thanks guys for the feedback. Yes, not very orginial, i know. The last two music videos i have done (the other one in post right now) have not had to great of orginial ideas. Both bands i pressed to try something new and different but both labels already had an idea of what they wanted and didnt want to break the mold to much. SO with that i decided that i'm going to take a break from music videos until i get one in which i full creative control and can try to do something really orginial.

Killswitch - the one guitar player was in ensign, the other in lifetime, i'm not sure about the singer. The band is on blackout records www.blackoutrecords.com and you can other songs of their at www.myspace.com/thefirestillburns

Roman - yea the vignetting, thats one thing i may change, it looks good on my broadcast monitor and tv, but a lot darker online. Since most of the playback will be online i'll probably tone it down a bit.

David - this was shot with the DVX, default F5, i had an arri 650/350 kit, a 4 foot bank kino, and three 650 omnis. Post done in FCP4.5

The band and record company have both seen it and they are very happy with it. I'm not sure what exactly their intent is with it, but i'll keep you posted if it gets played anywhere.

thanks again.

Andrew

The photos showing the PVC dolly made me happy. I just put one together (cine-dolly) and your results look great.

What did the Kino Bank accomplish being so far away from the talent?

Do you have any more on set photos?

The wide shots of the band are my favorite.

Peace.

This video Kicked ASSSSSSSSSSSSS! Loved it! and the feel was great!!! I am a fan already!

escozooz - thanks man, yea the dolly works great. i dont think i have any other production stills from that shoot but i do have a few other ones on my site (under photography, www.andrewdavidwatson.com) from a few other shoots. i used the kino mostly for the lead singer, so it was fairly close and overhead. Wasnt the main source of light on him but helped to even things out a little.

Cool vid man. Who cares if its not that original, its solid, looks great, and its what the client wanted. Its funny I was talking to my roommate about this video, and I thought it sounded like a mix of Social D and Lifetime. Lifetime is STILL one of my favorite bands (and one of the few bands I listened to 10 years ago that I still love). Anyway, good job.

You know what: I can´t stand performance-only Punkrock/Hardcore in empty warehouses...!
You know what: You can´t reinvent the wheel!
You know what: Your Vid is rock solid work, well done, I like it!

Hey guys will im done the final cut (pretty much exactly the same, i tone back a little of the vignetting). its still the same version online though. Thanks for your feedback but now its time to move onto another project. I'm heading to rhode island this weekend to DP a short film (super16!!). I also have 3 more project to edit in the next month (1 more music video, 1 promotional (oh so boring) and 1 short doc). At least its getting cold out. haha.

ryan - yea man, lifetime does rock, Jersey Best dancers all the way!

Spartacus - thanks man.

I liked the videe, a couple of things that have been mentioned, but looks very good. I really liked the cut to the radio. I checked out your site, and that Imagine video is very nice.

thanks guys. Yea the record company wants to submit this to fuse tv and mtv2 (headbangers ball i guess). I'm pushing for it. Would be awesome to get some work on either of those networks but i'm not holding m breath on it.
