"The Fight Within" (coffee's boxing film) Private Screening for first 15 PM's

Hey guys,
My boxing film "The Fight Within" is complete! (for the most part)

What a load of work, but it's done.

I'm having a private ONLINE ( :) ) screening for you first 15 DVX'ers that send me a PM requesting access to it.

Why am I doing this? Well, because it's fun this way.

And

I really would like some solid feed back on it before I let it out to the lions to be chewed up. Your feedback on the story, acting and technical execution of the film is very, very, very important to me so I beg of you to provide your input after watching the film.

I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

Thanks!!!!!!

PM away!

So far 8 people have PM'ed.

Aram,
It's all good dude. We'll just have to work on another film together. :)

PM sent. Yeah.. things sound a little confusing... J, when you say private screening you mean 15 people meeting up in NYC right? Because if I'm not mistaken the film is a feature right? So there's no way we could get that over email.. :)

Hey Patrick,

the film is a short (10mins) and the private screening is online. (Quicktime or something probably)

Returning PM's now.

cap, no it's not a feature. It's a short. It took me so long to complete it because the script was in shambles and I basically made most of it up as I went. LOL Oh it also took so long to complete because I walked away from the project in frustration and almost said the project was dead a few times. I now know how important it is to have a SOLID script on hand.... :)

LMAO! WOW, thanks Blaine! I really hated doing that during the project but I learned alot from it. Hey, I just hit send on my response to your PM.

140 MB from film or video? DVX? A1? I didn't download it yet 'cause I'm @Wifi, far away from my office but I'll do it next week and I'll report my humble POV then.

Jay, Im going to leave the in depth commentary for PM. But overall, its a beutiful piece.

just watched it man! I'll be honest and fair.

I think the realism and believeability of the boxing/training scenes was great. Very spot on and felt natural. The fellow Ray plays a good boxer (I assume he is one?). I think were the film falls a bit short is when the same realism and naturalism is missing from the non fight/training scenes. The dinner dialogue, the argument about bills, the altercation at work just didnt feel authentic to me. I think Ray was trying a bit too hard to be an actor and it shows. Fighting comes easy and natural to him and you can tell that on screen. His acting was a bit flat and not believeable. Same for his gf, I felt she was a bit too dramatic. It felt too "hollywood-lite".... and I think the shallow DOF and the music adds to that "hollywood-lite" vibe. I didnt feel the DOF moved the story along or developed any of the characters. It just felt tacked on to try and create the illusion of "film-like"....... the music was typical orchestral strings and whatnot, I would have liked something better and more original.

this might sound harsh but I'm just trying to help man..... I see great potential in the film

good luck bro!

hoofandmouf, I wrote the score to this, Just wondering what you mean by "the music was typical orchestral strings"? In intimate scenes like that, that's generally what is used, and I felt that it worked. What else would you have under dialogue like that? electric guitars and drums with an experimental sounding synth pad in the background? :p

EDIT: In this version the music is slightly out of sync, I think Jay has fixed that up now. But there are new changes coming in.

I think it worked perfectly. I loved the music, Chris.
