"The Fiction" a DP blog

What program did you grade it in? What approach did you take to grading it? Did you crush blacks add contrast ect?

Also, how did you end up with the wide aspect ratio? Did you hard matte the matte box or did you place markers on the LCD? or what?

Mike grades in Final cut with the 3 way color corrector and a few tricks he does. When I shoot I leave the contrast out of the raw footage so we can have more room to work with in post. For each shot during the shoot we talk about what its supposed to look like and how we should shoot it. We change from B-press, Cinelike D and V depending on what the contrast of the scene is and the final look.
We taped off the Nebtek for framing with Gaff and left room for adjustments in post.

We shot the last pick up scenes the last few days and now we are officially wrapped. They are probably 3/4s into the assemble edit and then a test screening for feed back in a month or two.
Thanks Alex for filling in for Mike.
