Hi folks,
I'm a newbie here (been a lurker for a while) - I've thoroughly enjoyed the inspiration and ideas that come from watching the projects of like-minded (and like-budgeted) filmmakers, and am pleased to finally be able to present a film of my own. Not my very own...I'm actually co-director/co-producer with the talented author behind The Fear of Dreaming. I met Jonathan Clemson as a cast member on another no-budget shoot we completed last year.
The Fear of Dreaming is a feature about mysterious forces that feed an unwilling 'office slave' nightmares and visions about the corporate career he's fallen into, and the corrupt back-stage of the conglomerate he's working for. Ultimately, it all hinges on the thin line between reality and fiction, and the power of perception in an ignorant age.
We plan to start shooting between the small Canadian city of Victoria and a nearby gulf island, Salt Spring (notably, the home of many celebrities including Randy Bachman and Ellen Page). We're working on a micro budget, but the response from the respective communities has been quite positive so far and we don't anticipate any problems working on a part-volunteer, part-honorarium, part-profit sharing system for our cast and crew.
The biggest challenges at this point are making special effects work on such a budget and ensuring the project will have the future it deserves. Not being a genre-flick or boasting any stars, and with some challenging ideas to put forward, we're not expecting a Hollywood fairy-godmother to snap us up and print us a billion blu-ray discs. Still, we're confident we can make a truly unique and innovative feature, backed by quality low-budget production values. And that's gotta be as important as name-recognition (at least to you and me).
Anyways, enough chat. Website with more info and a trailer: www.thefearofdreaming.com
