Here's a film I did for film production class. The script was written by a writing student a year ahead of me and the prof assigned this to me to direct...also was dp and edited it too. It's 5 1/2 minutes...i didn't include the end credits to save space. Shot 720 24pn. Let me know what you think.

Cheers

Wow shes a bundle of joy ehy :O)
fairly good just a few minor points i noticed.
Bad jump cut before she says "I can come tomorrow morning and set up the food".
Can you work in a different shot perhaps edit the script ?
(can't cut between 2 similar shots like that)
Next time try to diffuse the lighting more, we shouldn't be seeing ugly shadows in a room light that.
On the hole nice framing though well done.

Intresting, I agree on the shot, and also the end shots seemed to have lazy lighting techniques. Overall I loved it, BUT what should I get when the end of the film is done?

too lazy to sign up.
i mean, too busy.

I guess you're also "too busy" to notice that you don't have to sign up and that the download button is in the bottom half of the page.

video quality was nice, the shots were also cool, but as mentioned before there were some bad jump cuts in there. just a few. the lighting was what stood out the most though. in almost all the scenes you see shadows and it looked a little dark at times most notebly when the girl first gets up and walks away to start getinng the dishes or whatever she did.

also the audio seemed to peak in a couple places where the old woman started raising her voice BUT that might just be me. if nobody else comments on it then forget i mentioned it. by the way, what type of mics did you use?

seems like if those minor issues are corrected then it'd be cool overall. of course this is just my opinion. good luck man.

I'd agree about the jump cuts...

Did she flub her line in the previous shot? If not, why not linger on it? I assume that if you could have done that you would have. Those are the only things that took me out of the piece. The acting is quite good, and your compositons are nice and simple. I don't really agree with the other comments regarding your lighting. It's atmospheric. Nice work.

I agree with most of the comments on the video - lighting's too harsh, and varying light conditions - especially when the girl gets up to ditch the wine.

But I didn't notice any jumpy cuts.

There were some distracting square green reflections in "mother fun's" spectacles though.

Worst for me was the ambient sound - presumably aircon units (I'm in the UK - we don't know much about that stuff over here) definitely electric motors of some sort - really distracting.

I've watched it three times now and I still don't know what it is the girl offers to arrange - even with high quality headphones I can't make it out (and she makes the offer twice).

But don't be put off - it had mood and passion, that's very important.
The photography was generally very good although the zoom-in on mum's face was in two half-hearted stabs. One decisive movement would have fitted very well but as it was, the second leg of the zoom was too late for max impact.

Just my opinion - I'm trying to be constructive here and I hope you take my comments in the way they are meant.

Keep up the good work and lets see more soon.

Andy

PS - Reminded me of my mother (enough said).
