The faster the speed, the bigger the mess...

It's unfortunate that US broadcasters and viewers sort of lack the (edit: testicular fortitude) for messages appropriately designed with this kind of impact.

A few years ago there was a land-mine removal PSA that was quite mild by comparison, and it was quickly hounded off the air at the very few channels that ran it.

That landmine PSA was Canadian.

I don't mind at all that this sort of thing isn't done here. The shock value far exceeds the "awareness" value.

Yah, there are a bunch of them that were aired in Canada and they had quite the impact. The one with the chef in the kitchen still makes me think twice when moving around hot pots.

if only he was going faster he could have passed the other car.

Hahaha.

I don't know what my opinion is on this kind of commercial. I don't think many people would want to watch that commercial every time they watch TV, but if it makes people drive safer and it saves lives, then I guess the depressing nature of it is worthwhile.

If you think that one was rough you should have seen the speed PSA where the guy is late for his son's first communion... and slides his convertible under a semi, gets decapitated, and his head comes crashing through the stained glass right into the holy water.

Anyway... yeah, while that was well made... it does seem a little much... but I guess since so many people are idiots you can't be subtle. (and on the bright side, that australian shepherd went unscathed)
