Ok so I have the place to upload my file, and I can't wait to hear from you about what number on the list I am so I know when I make my movie.

I think we should have deadlines for our movie, definately, so we don't have to wait too long.
 
I agree. Sadly I keep trying to contact PDX DVX about episode II but he's not responding. If I don't here from him by 9PM pacific time then he's going to be cut out of the mix. Keegs you will have to give us an episode II fast if you can.

Are you around Keegs ?
 
OK FILMMAKER friends. I've changed the setup. The list doesn't seem like it will work and I think this new way will be much better in the long run.

Episodes will be taken on a first come first serve kind of basis. I already made episode I so whoever wants episode II just claim it via a post and get started. Then when you're finished, post episode II on the egg.dvxfest.com website and let everyone know in this thread that episode III is ready to be made and someone will respond, etc.

I think this non-list way of doing things will make the idea more streamlined and less stagnant. That way people don't have to wait 6 weeks to get 'their' episode, they can jump in whenever they want.

hmmm ok but i CLAIM episode 6! give me 2 days after 5 is posted and if i don't submit shaft me!

i reckon a list will keep it in order i dunno about this first in gets it, maybe make a huge list and give everyone 2 days and if not put them at the end and move the rest up.

eg.

ep 1. DVX1 complete by 6th June
ep 2. DVX2 complete by 8th June
ep 3. DVX3 complete by 10th June
ep 4. DVX4 complete by 12th June

and if DVX1 isnt done by 6th June this happens:

ep 1. DVX2 complete by 8th June
ep 2. DVX3 complete by 10th June
ep 3. DVX4 complete by 12th June
ep 4. DVX1 complete by 14th June

ops sorry i misread your post. Claim it then make it thats a good idea,

not make it then claim it(i was thinking what if 100 people make episode 2 then go to submit it but someone else had).
 
I claim episode 2! I'll start on it today, or did someone already claim it, let me know, I'm starting today anyways.
 
Guys...relax...Im ready...Ive been waiting...I have my idea...but you talked me into waiting for the next film...I go away for a few days and all hell breaks loose...I still want to claim episode FIVE!...
Let Chelton take the II slot...Maybe stick to the first original eight and then open end it??? I dont know maybe Im just talking rubbish... :laugh:
 
What's going on is that instead of people being assigned weeks or whatever and some dropping the ball totally, someone should just speak up and say "I'm going to do episode X" (whatever episode we're up to).

So instead of a queue, someone just volunteers to start the next episode right now, that is, if the latest episode has been posted. I'm actively working on episode 2 right now, when I post it then someone else can say "OK I'm doing episode three" and they should be prepared to start working on it shortly thereafter so we don't have to wait weeks and weeks for episodes.
 
Exactly ! I'm glad you've stepped up cshelton. Can't wait to see episode II ! I think this new system will keep things lucid and creative, how this whole video chain mail experiment should be. It lets it run itself without moderation.

ex. You're doing #2. Can someone claim #6 before #5 is posted?

I think as long as you claim it, its yours, no matter what episode it is.

Yeah, the above. To keep everything linear I think episodes will be claimed after previous ones are produced. So if you want episode five really bad, contact whoever is doing episode four to get an idea of when they will post so you can coordinate and then claim your spot right away. Kinda like ebay bidding but not.

You guys should make sub films between episodes. Like episode 4.5. That way people could make something that they would want to add to the project without really cutting in line. This way you can have the official episode and the ones everyone went out and had their way with. Just an idea to try and let everyone have their chance at it.
 
Or if you created continuity plot points between each episode everyone could be working simultaneously and not have to worry about egg plots fitting together. That way you'd skip the lag time between projects and keep the ball rolling.

That's what I'm talkin' about! I still think we need some SOLID rules we're gonna go by. Everything seems kinda in limbo.
 
Ok guys. Rules have changed, we can't claim numbers. You can only claim your number once a new episode has been completed. I think we should stick to this method for a good handful of films then change things up as we see fit when we do another series of these things. Lets just see how this first set moves along. This is the fairest method in my opinion. This will also keep things fresh and also, above all, this will keep things self-moderated, there's no need for a list this way or for me keeping track of things. The egg will move on its own and how its intended to be.

So, once again, after a new episode is completed, the filmmaker will post the episode in this thread with a link after they've uploaded it to egg.dvxfest.com or to their own website, then whoever posts next to claim the next episode will get it, first come, first serve. JP, I know I said you could have number five but there is no list anymore. If you want to do #5 read my other post about contacting filmmakers to get an idea of when they will be finished so you can claim your spot right away. We need to do it this way. Sorry for the confusion.

hey, I just got around to reading this and it sounds like a really cool concept! just got a quick suggestion though, nothing serious: maybe the claiming/posting of episodes could go in an uncluttered new thread, and all the questions/discussion related to the series could go in this one. just thought it might help keep things easier to see since this thread is already six pages long. hey, again, great idea with the chain mail video series thingy.
 
Episode 2: Update

The script is written, and I've already started shooting. I'm hoping to have Episode 2 completed and posted by Wednesday night, I'm working as fast as I can!
