The E or U model

Hey guys,

This may be a silly question, but I've been unable to find any actual information regarding this issue.

We've had our minds set on picking up a FS700 for a while, and we've now got the fonds to actually do so. However, the more I've been reading about the 7Q, I feel as though my life will not be complete without adding this to our camera. As such, I wouldn't mind saving a bit of money on the camera if at all possible, so we've looked into picking a used model up somewhere. Sadly, its next to impossible finding a used model in Europe (I'm located in Denmark). I will, however, be doing some traveling over the pond the next week, and thought I should look at my options over there. Its been fairly easy to find some very good deals on used equipment, however as I looked more into it, the model numbers was different from those in europe. More specifically, the US models are all U models, whereas the european models are E models. I've been checking the sony homepage, and they are, as far as specs go, completely identical. However, I still have this feeling I can't shake that I may run into some sort of trouble regardless. As such, I thought I'd post here and see if anyone had any experience they could share with me in this regard. I'm especially worried about whether I can take the U model back to europe and have it upgraded to the R model (or, at least the s-log 2 4k 3.0 firmware update - not sure it'll actually be called R :p ). If I want the 7Q to work, this is obviously necessary.

Does anyone have any info in this regard, or just general good advice regarding my situation? Its obviously a luxuary problem, as I may just have to wait with the 7Q, but damn it I want one badly! :cheesy:

Also, I know this is not a sales thread, but should you be situated in europe and looking to get rid of your FS700, do shoot me a PM :) (I can't post in the sales section yet, so sorry in advance for the missplaced line!)

In advance, thanks! :)

Hey!
yes the E and U is just for the Europe and US. The camera is a so called 'world cam' and you can switch it between 60i and 50i. I guess the only difference really is what power cables and adapters come with it, due to difference in voltage etc.

If you're buying new I'd say save yourself the trouble and get the new 'R' model which has the 4K upgrade already done at factory. At least at CVP in the UK, where I bought mine, the R model was actually cheaper than the E model too!
