The Dvx Book - Evf Settings

In the 100A menu under 'DISPLAY SETUP', there are menu items that don't seem to be in Barry's book, e.g. all the "EVF" settings, which perhaps some might think I'm dense, but I sincerely didn't even know what the heck "EVF" stood for! (then eventually figured it out once I saw that the 'EVF SET' settings controlled 'color', 'brightness', and 'contrast'), but what about 'EVF MODE', what is that, and why is it not listed on the book?

Also, there's no mention of the 'SELFSHOOT' setting (normal vs mirror) either... again, perhaps obvious to some (but I still don't know what it does, I tried pointing the camera at myself , flipped the LCD and changed the setting.... and now I feel like a dork waiting for someone to tell me something like it's the button that sends my video to a parallel universe).

I would have preferred that every setting was at least acknowledged, perhaps simply stating "self explanatory" if it was decided that a given item was "obvious"*

*keeping in mind that the word 'obvious' may not be applicable to everyone, especially when dealing with people like myself, someone that used to be in software development and could handle abstract networking protocols and lofty coding philosophies, but who stumbles when trying to use a printer! ;-)

note: While writing this I decided to lift the view finder up while playing with the 'EVF MODE' setting, and lo and behold EVF MODE now has meaning, changing the setting with the view finder down you don't notice anything changing... ;-)

The regular DVX manual page 61 tells about this feature.

I never use it, so I had to look it up to see. I kind of figured it was for self-shooting so you could see yourself the right way instead of backwards.

I said in the beginning of the menus that I wouldn't detail every single function and try to replace the manual; instead, what I was trying to do was add to the manual and explain items that the manual didn't cover. The manual adequately documented SelfShoot (or so I thought); I really couldn't think of anything to add to it.

Indeed your book does say that, my apologies Barry. Unfortunately I've only rarely picked up the manual since getting your book, and I tend to use your book as a quick reference so that section in the beginning was long forgotten from my memory!

Indeed the manual does cover the areas you omitted, thanks for clarifying.
