The Delivery (DVX sci-fest) late entry, trailer

scharky

This film, originally intended to be in the sci-fest is finally starting to take shape. I have always been known for my slow editing process, but adding on top of that, graduating, changing my carreer and moving have all slowed this process down. But now I have something tangeable. This is the first rough edit, opinions of all forms appreciated.

Small and large versions, must have QT 7.

That was pretty neat Scharky! I really enjoyed the b&w, dark tone to the trailer. It gave that eerie, claustrophobic feel which is usually pretty hard to achieve.

My favorite shot of the trailer had to be where the 'scientist' was in the basement working on the package... The slow track with the one light source coming from above. Beautiful.

Also, what did you use to compress the vid? For 16 megs, the quality and size of the picture was great. I've been toying with preimere and I can't seem to get a decent picture for the size.

From what I've seen of your work, it looks to me like you love camera movement. Usually very crisp and slow pans or tracks. Great stuff. I'm really looking forward to the film.

Looks very cool, the trailer did it's job making me want to see the full movie. Actually quite professional looking, great work! :)

Thanks for the comments. As far as the compression, I exported it as a Quicktime with the H.264 compression, simply the best looking way to go that I have found. I have found however that the compression seems to wash out the image a little bit, blacks get raised up and highlights get lowered, making a milky appearance, but not so far off from the original to get upset about. I would like to figure out how to avoid this though, if anyone has any ideas.
As far as the trailer, again thanks for the comments. THis is still a rough edit, so if anyone has any suggestions, feel free.

I'm considering it, we'll just have to see how things go, and see how many people ask really nicely :)

Wow that was great. Much better then the usual trailers we see on these forums. I LOVED the camera moves! What equipment did you use on this? ..and What microphone did you use, the sound was also good. Good job cant wait to see the film!

Thanks for the kind words. WE used the straight DVX, with mattebox, did not have the letus35 at this time :(. For support we mainly shot from a Cobra Crane II+. We had about 5 K's of Britek and Lowel lights, and for sound we used an Azden SGM-1x. I definetly learned quite a bit from my first film as far a sound goes, and I am much happier with the turn out on this film, although we do have a few lines of ADR that I still need to record.

This was a take on an old story that I heard growing up.

I do remember the original Twilight zone episode for which I was trying to pay homage. I for the life of me, however could not remember the name of that episode. I guess it's nice that someone was able to find that information. Better look harder next time i'm doing a film based on a memory :)

You know what's also funny? I contimplated naming the movie, "the box", but to me, that word today is just too loaded to have any kind of serious nature to it.
