The Decoy Bride

If you're looking for a fun, funny, totally entertaining and terribly ignored romantic comedy movie, then I HIGHLY recommend "The Decoy Bride"!

Saw it on Netflix last night. WONDERFUL! Beautiful locations. Excellent script. Great actors. Suitable for all ages.

It is an absolute TRAGEDY that this movie -- which had a budget of 2.7 million pounds (whatever that is in dollars) -- made only a grand total of about $750 in theaters in the U.S. Not $750 MILLION dollars. Not even $750 THOUSAND dollars. Just 750 bucks! It showed on only one screen. Shameful!

PLEASE.......check it out on Netflix tonight. "The Decoy Bride" -- with Kelly MacDonald and David Tennant. You'll love it!

I will take a look because I am curious how it cost that much. Always curious about budgets, granted what they state may not always be true. Thanks!

Lotsa movies don't make it to the big screen, they go straight to DVD and over the period actually make money .. maybe not heaps but some.

Cheers.

Definitely true. Most movies make the majority of their profits from DVD sales and rentals, as well as pay-per-view, VOD, subscriber and cable TV.

But the thing is, they use their run in theaters as major advertising to generate those DVD and other sales. And I've never -- ever -- seen a well budgeted movie with name actors make such a pitifully small box office. Just seems strange, considering that the movie is actually quite good.

hmmm I think the title doesnt work for the film...decoy and bride doesnt seem to co exist even if its meant to be non-complentary.

The title is actually quite appropriate to the storyline. It's about a celebrity who is trying to evade the press so she can get married in peace. So a fake wedding with a 'decoy bride' is staged to draw the press away.

yeah I had watched the trailer and came to that conclusion. I think the word decoy is more action spy type a movie...and the comedy is well its not american comedy its english ......if thats make any sense....for me atleast I wouldt expect the movie to be any good...but I look out for it if I ever come across it.

Well, tastes vary of course. But my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. And, judging from the reviews on IMDB, so do most of the people who have seen it. Give it a try. :)

It was alright. Sort of predictable. The celeb blonde is very pretty! She was in Entourage also. But it was sort of ABC filmmaking.

For some reason I thought of this film "The Closer You Get" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0218112/ which seemed to strike (for me at least) the comedic tone and (at moments) the depth that The Decoy Bride didn't reach. Here is the link the trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svnrSLDewY8 (the movie looks better than the youtube footage).

I doc appreciate the sharing of the Decoy Bride, I am a bit of a rom com fan (shhhhhhh).
