The Death of DVD

The death of DVD is quickling coming. I expect DVD to have come to an end in less then 5 years.

With that said I need to switch to an electronic only delivery format. The internet happens so fast and it is extremely difficult to keep up with all the changes.

I basically need to have a link to download a file. If I can password protect the file on a user to user basis. So I.P. for user password one time download.

If that is not fee sable then I would do a lump sum payment of unlimited downloads to all that have access to the link.

I can not to this with my server as it would be too expensive for bandwidth.

What websites would offer what I need for a reasonable price. Reasonable obviously meaning

1. Cheapest
2. Reliable
3. Fast Server

Thanks in advance. VideoSilva.com

What kind of content are you selling? I went to your site and mainly found movies for sale. A couple of created content projects. This is a big challenge and hopefully this thread can get some different opinions.

I have been lazy lately and have not updated the website in over 5 years. Another to do.......................I hate it when someone answers a question with another question. I need to make video media available. I thought I had made my self clear. I am not green by any means. I was one of the first websites to host video of any kind on the internet ( at the time there were maybe 3 websites that had video content of any kind ) . I was one one of the first websites to offer streaming video on the internet ( prior to that you had to wait for the whole file to download before you could watch it on dial up connections ). I was one of the FIRST websites to offer LIVE streaming video on the internet. So, I am not green by any means.

I have been sick the last few years and am now feeling a little healthier and need to catch up.

Why not use YouTube, it's free and you can monetize as well once you have enough views and subscriptions. YouTube has an unlisted option which is like a password in that no-one can find the video unless they have the link.

Nowadays you can even buy a YouTube channel if you want views and subscriptions.

I don't understand the harsh tone by some posters here lately. If you have it all figured out then why do you need any help at all? I was going to try and help solve this with you but now I am going to just check out...

You tube is a good idea but it gives too many false positives of copyright problem. Thus just a headache.

Plenty of smart people here, but nobody wants to enter a discussion with someone with a bad attitude.

In my experience, Vimeo Pro is the closest thing to what you describe. You can set up a Video On Demand for however much $$$ you want per download, and you can even make individual discount codes available for single downloads.

So it turns out its all clowns on here with no clue ? There is really not just 1 smart person here to help ?

Help is offered to those that deserve it. Stop being entitled.

If you have such an extensive background in hosting video and streaming then you should know the answer to the questions you are asking. Even if you have been out of the game for a few years it takes seconds to do a Google search to see what is still out there and what new options we have.

If a solution is that hard to find it probably isn't a good solution to invest in. Vimeo Pro or Frame.io are your best options but they will cost money.
