The Dark Knight

Yes, usually I agree with Gage above... in this case I believe word of mouth is making this film's numbers soar.... and its well deserved, it's a fantastic film!

I agree, Brandon. Sometimes a film is hyped beyond the scope of the film and that's what pushes the numbers (Spiderman 3). But The Dark Knight is one of the few exceptions that lives up to the hype and the numbers.

Look at Titianic (which I thought was going to bomb at the box office because it was so over-hyped, over budget, and involved a story we all knew the ending to). But that film also lived up to the hype and, technically, even if the Dark Knight makes more money than Titanic, it won't sell more tickets. Ticket prices were 50% less when Titanic came out.

I watched "The Dark Knight" Saturday night, and I still can't get over how good it was. The movie was extremely well written.

maybe a bit to much detail at the end, maybe not, I can't decide, but this was an awesome movie to watch.

You might want to try the Imax at The Bridge in Marina Del Rey. There are still tickets at 10:00 tonight and tomorrow all day. A bit of a drive, but much better parking then Universal and I hear the seats are real nice.

Yeah, I think I'll have to purchase a few days in advance.
For the 2nd weekend showing, I had to purchase my IMAX tickets online a week in advance.
Then, after arriving to the theater an hour and a half early (which is what's usually recommended), all Dark Knight ticket holders were redirected upstairs where there was already a waiting line, but not too long...yet, we got great seats midcenter. Already being near the front and seeing the looks of shock on people's faces coming up those stairs just 10 minutes before the show and expecting to walk right in was priceless.

This is what I was going to suggest. For Brandon it's only about another 10 minutes drive, and the parking HAS to be cheaper than Universal.

Just watched Batman: Gotham Knight. Sort of an Animatrix for Batman, except the stories follow a progression. Picks up about where Batman Begins ended and follows in that universe.

What did you think of it David? I couldn't help but hold it up to the Animatrix shorts, which I loved, and I was pretty disappointed. Thought the animation was kind of crappy and the stories really weak. They didn't flesh out much of the Batman universe and they didn't really stand on their own, so I'm not sure where that leaves 'em... Very much a "meh" reaction from me.

The first story was worthless and I didn't care for some of the art. But I liked most of it a lot.

I especially liked that it followed up on some of the promise of Begins which was jettisoned in TDK -- the entire Narrows given over to inmates, etc.. All sorts of stuff set up in Begins which wasn't even mentioned in the sequel.

I also liked that Kevin Conroy did Batman's voice.

For some reason I bought it instead of renting it, so I'll probably give it another go. Sounds like I might have missed some of those connections to BB.

The stories were ok, nothing epic... but it is a comic book. If you were looking for epic, that's your own fault. I liked most of the animation, except where they made Batman look like Zoltron from Battle of the Planets. That whole story could have been flushed.

This one?

I was thinking Phantom of the Paradise, but Zoltar works, too. One of the art choices I didn't like.
