"The Chalice" Short Video

Hello, all!

I decided to throw my hat into the ring with the DVRack "Give Us your Best Shot" contest that was due on the 15th of this month. I imagine it's okay to show everyone what my entry looked like, so here it is!

Shot on my 100A of course, using the DVRack software and a surprise appearance of my DVRig Pro... it turns out I forgot to pack my tripod for the shoot, but did pack my DVRig Pro, so the whole thing was shot from that. Only one shot required post-prouction stabilization, the rest were all as you see them!

No, the flying sword was made using an open-source, cross-platform 3D suite called Blender.

Glad you liked it!

lol that was great - and the sword...made in BLENDER!! THAT FREE THING YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AND ITS ONLY LIKE 3 MEGS

I'm impressed ;D

Re: "The Chalice" Short Video

As a guy who is not unfamiliar with wearing armor, it bugged me that the warrior's knee protection flapped around. But hey, that's a nit-pick.

I liked the sword choreography, good job matching the 3D model to that footage. And you get extra points for using Blender.

Trust me... the guy wearing the armor was none too happy that his knee guard strap popped loose about halfway through the shoot. ::)

Thanks! Folks often understimate Blender, but I've yet to find something it couldn't handle.

It was quite helpful that the actor doing the choreography & performance of the fight, T. Richard Greene, was professional enough to write the entire fight's choreography down for me to do movement matching with in post.

YaBB doesn't make links clear, but my original mention of Blender was a link.

Here it is again:
http://www.blender.org/

The program has a heck of a learning curve, but a fantastic online manual, tutorials, and a very responsive user community.

And ya can't beat the price. :)

Thanks again for the feedback!
