Hey DVXUsers,
My name is Jason Lapeyre, and I'm producing a really interesting short film that I wanted to promote here. It's called The Captured Bird, and the director is former Rue Morgue Magazine editor-in-chief Jovanka Vuckovic. Jovanka's time at the magazine put her in touch with a lot of horror genre luminaries, so when it came time to make her debut film, the outpouring of support from established filmmakers was incredible. Most notable was that her friend Guillermo del Toro came aboard to creatively shepherd the project and lend his name to the finished product.
We've received a grant from a Canadian broadcaster for part of the budget, but we still need to raise another $40,000 in order to get Jovanka's very ambitious script to the screen. One of the ways we're promoting the film is by producing a series of videos called Horror Film School, where Jovanka interviews some of the legendary horror filmmakers she's encountered over the years about how to make her first film.
First up - filmmaking lessons from George Romero. You can watch the clips here:

Part two: http://thecapturedbird.posterous.com/the-captured-bird-presents-horror-film-school-0
Upcoming interviews will include Guillermo del Toro (of course), John Landis, Mick Garris and Rick Baker, among others.
We'll be tracking our entire production process on the website, of course. There are also some amazing rewards for contributing to the film, like autographed copies of Jovanka's coffee table book on zombies and Pan's Labyrinth scripts autographed by Guillermo.
You can find out more information about the film at our site, http://www.thecapturedbird.com. The caliber of talent this project is attracting is really blowing my mind - we had an Oscar-nominated production designer reach out to us a couple of weeks ago and ask US if she could come on board!
Thanks for listening, and I'll keep posting here as the production unfolds.
