The built in mic

Yes, yes I should know this by now but what are the settings for using the built in mic? I've always used external equipment, and indeed tried a few times, just to see the quality, but no luck. Is anyone familiar enough to give me a 1,2,3 list of settings? Thanks.

Just that easy. I wonder if the mic is even working on my old camera. That's the one I tried many years ago. Thanks
