SHORT: The Bridge

Hey, Marlon. The other Marlon here. Watched the film and I thought everything about it was top-notch. You had plenty of coverage for every scene and I thought the actors did an excellent job. The locations were stellar and seemed to fit perfect. The whole story was very believable. You paid attention to detail very well. The uniforms, makeup, hair and everything.

Your cinematography was excellent. I really like the shot at the 20:48 mark. There was nothing major going on there, but it was a cool look. There were some shots where the greenery in the background was overexposed, but I don't think that's an issue at all. You may have even planned it like that. The beach shots were beautiful and had me wondering how you got it all to yourself. Probably had to get up pretty early I suppose. Justin also did an excellent job on the score as well.

The story was a good, emotional one though a little confusing towards the end. I did get the main part of it, but have a question of why the hero ended up where he did. I may go back and watch it again to figure that part out if I have time.

I think the only thing you might be able to add to make some of the moments more powerful are some stellar and louder sound effects to lead us into some of the flashbacks to give it that "umph." Like the flashback is something so powerful and uncontrollable that it comes when it does and it grabs you hard to pull you into it. Just a suggestion and probably a nit-pick.

Great job! How long did it take you to make it?

Great work. Without posting any spoilers its tough for people to comment. I won't comment on story or acting or any of that (none of that could be changed anyway).

So, I'll nitpick on things that can be changed:

In your intro you have some close ups of Sullivan's face. You can see the camera operator's reflection in his eyes. You obviously have some skill in post so I'm sure you can pull that out.

Some of your audio on Connelly has en echo in the tunnel towards the beginning.

I had a little trouble following the chronology. Im not sure if there is a way to make it more clear. I like some of your stylistic choices used to convey this with the dutch angles, and bleak colours set against the saturated cut aways. Overall it makes sense, I just wasn't sure what my "now" was for lack of a better term. Although I understand that is the effect you are going for.

I'm also very impressed that you were able to catch such frantic motion with the equipment used.

I appreciate that you showed us the title of the book. I had paused the video earlier to see if I could figure it out. How much did you draw from it?

Can you share some details about filming? How many days, budget, etc...

Great job man, i really liked how you managed to do everything you aimed to do from reading your production thread.

10/10 for sure!
