The best shutter speed

I've been experimenting with lots of different speeds but for some reason I always come back to 1/48 (in 24p). I know there's something in the math (30p and 1/60 are a good pair), but I'm not exactly clear on why.

Even though I lose less light at 1/24, adding the extra light for 1/48 is worth it.

With the exception of some experimental stuff or for very fast action, is everyone pretty well set at 1/48 when shooting an a-typical scene?

With a film camera the "normal" shutter exposes the film at 1/2 the frame rate so at 24 that would be.... 1/48. You have discovered the wheel ;~)
