For those of you who missed the DV Expo or attended and didn't notice, Samys Camera had THE GREATEST DEAL on the HVX. The available packages were:
HVX200 = $5,299
HVX200 + 2 4gb P2 cards = $6,299
HVX200 + 2 8gb P2 cards = $8,999
Luckily I slipped in and got myself the HVX + 2 4gb P2 cards package and couldn't be happier. :grin: :thumbsup: :grin: :thumbsup: :beer:

Are they guaranteeing those prices, even though panasonic has now uped the price on the packages?
 
They honored it by signed contract, yes! LoL I spoke with the salesman today at the show and he was a bit upset that the package prices increased but, Samys honors their word, not to mention the signed sales slip :thumbsup:
By the way, that was a DV Expo package deal only.

I'm always concerned no matter what the circumstance, that's just in my nature. Hopefully all is well when I get it though, and hopefully half of the screen isn't blue in low light....

After seeing the footage with Barry G. at the expo I was in dumbfounded, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't resist, and I have money to burn anyways :evil:

Wow.
That says quite a bit to me about the quality of the image (and your tendencies for high ticket impulse buying).
Seeing your skepticism leading up to DV Expo I figured you'd come back shrugging your shoulders saying it was "okay"

Now I'm looking foward even more to getting one of these in my hands.
 
It was beautiful man, they had a set up there where the HVX/Varicam/HDX400 were lined up shooting a well lit TV show type set and I have to say....the HVX can hold its ground even in comparison to the Varicam with proper lighting, it was quite a shock. I am obviously singing its praises, and it deserves it %100.
 
That setup makes it really easy to see where the quality falls. At GVExpo, the HVX wasn't "officially" introduced, so you could play with it, but not see it in that comparison. I stood there between the HDX400 and the DVX100b and wondered where the HVX would fall. If it's anything close to the HDX400, that would be stunning. You did get a killer deal--for sure.

so what is their show special now after the update?

I was just on sammy's website, and it looks like they only carry Sony and Canon brand camcorders. Sooooo.... What's going on here? Am I missing something on their site?
 
As was said earlier, it was a show only special, not in store, show ONLY. So with that being said I'd either assume that they plan to ship out their first batch to DV Expo customers first, as was promised, then deliver to the general public later. It may be unlisted on samys for now due to the fact the they're quite boggled as to the price of the camera themselves, and don't want to lose anymore money than they already did at the show.

After speaking with the salesman today, he raised the price of the package I ordered by $200 only, quite an honorable guy i'd say judging by that. The other packages such as the cam by itself and the 8gb package remained the same price. The Expo ended at 2pm today, and it was the last day of the expo as well.
 
I feel like a huge dumbass. I completely missed that deal on Wednesday. I was walking around that place like a kid in a candy store.. and kept gravitating back to the Panasonic booth - I'm sure Rush will do all that he can with his godly power to help out the rest of us peons..
